These devices are terrible quality. I would happily buy a retro seat console, but these ones are garbage.

    • Its cos they are made by ATGames

      • Is your upvote for @games or because it's garbage?

No Strreets of Rage? I’ll pass.

Thanks for confirming the omission of one of the greatest games of all time… Saved me from having to research

Ironic in a way. I think crap hardware was the one of the reasons for Sega's console demise. And they still haven't learned! And again getting smashed by Nintendo too!

Most of Nintendo’s consoles have been technically inferior to the competition. Sega’s demise in the home console market and the actual reasons are well documented for those people that can read.

      • I'm a big fan/collector of the Sega 16bit consoles. IMO, however the SNES had much better hardware and graphics. Dreamcast vs PS2…each had their hardware advantages, however the Dreamcast was a pain in the ass for the programmers…so in that regards a crappy decision to use that hardware. I got stung many years ago by the Sega Edge 3D video card…that purchase still leaves a bitter taste. NVIDIA has come a long way from the NV1. I'm just rambling now lol

  • Plays ROMs out of the box, and firmware updates since bad reviews…

    • Google user reviews. The emulation is still terrible.

      • Ok cheers

Sega are making their own Mega Drive mini. I'd wait for that.

  • Good price for create a case for retropie and controller

  • Funny how people have faith in an 'Official' Megadrive mini being good when they've allowed these absolutely $hithouse units to carry the Sega name and some of their most iconic games for a decade.

Sega don't give a crap about quality control or their consumers.

    • You are right, they don't care about that, but they may care about that money it will bring, if its a decent emulation.

  • This is the 2017 version, dont get this version. Get the 2018 which is more update and has SD card slot. To tell the difference … 2017 has that red strip color and 2018 has white.

    • Any difference to sound quality?

      • They say the 2017 version had sound issues and other stuff that's why they released the 2018 version. Most of the 2017 version are on sale to get rid off them from retailers

Why would a company release such a shit product. How freaking hard is it to emulate the hardware properly and just include every freaking game on it? Surely the games back then wouldn't have been any more than a few MB each. I can't see why they do this. It's just stupid.

I had a SEGA as a kid and I enviously look on at others who grew up with Nintendo and now have the Mini. But I wouldn't touch this with a 10 ft pole. Such a waste.

I would say very hard, you do realise you need to get licence to games and pay royaltys. Image these companies are 20+ years old, some don't even exist anymore.

They have released Sega Genesis Classics on Microsoft Windows, macOS, Linux, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch with a large number of games. It has a really good suite of games, and it also aupports VR on the PC, so it looks like you are playing the console in a 90s bedroom.

Issue is that the emulation still is a little slow, barely noticable but one of SEGA's main gamws is Sonic where precision timing is key and I struggle to play well. I recently switched to RetroArch and I can notice the speed improvements immediately.
