  • Wow. Great deal.

  • +3

Please post receipt for us. Thanks!

Probably due to new kindle just launched today with built in front light. $139
    https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B07NPLGSMT/ref=mb_gw_eink_jr_la…

    Still a good deal.

    • +3

      that's the normal kindle

      • It's the new kindle, has backlight etc and touch screen. Don't think this old model has that.

        • +6

The "new" kindle is a step down from the Kindle that the OP posted. Lower resolution and non IP rated according the comparisons on Amazon's website.

          • @Slave1: 2015 kindle is not IP rated too.

Again, I think this is a better deal since its paperwhite. Only thing might be the processor is slower but nobody knows.

        • +1

          Paperwhite has a backlight though

          • @brendanm: Adjustable front light lets you read comfortably for hours—indoors and outdoors, day and night.Purpose-built for reading, with a 167 ppi glare-free display that reads like real paper, even in direct sunlight.Read distraction-free.

            • +1

@BargainHunterMYz: Yes? My old Paperwhite has a backlight that allows me to read comfortably for hours at night, and with a 300 PPI display.

              • @brendanm: Ya I know. I'm using a paperwhite now. And i agree that this is a good deal. But the new kindle does have a back light.

                • @BargainHunterMYz: Yeah I know, I was responding to the people who were suggesting the old Paperwhite didn't have one.

        • Looking at the New Kindle vs 2018 Paperwhite

          • 4GB vs 8GB
          • no IP rating
          • Wifi only
          • 167 ppi vs 300ppi

The main difference with the new Kindle and 2015 Paperwhite would be that the 2015 Paperwhite has 300ppi.

So if you're looking at a Kindle less than $150, this deal is has more value.

      • As opposed to the Kindle Paperwhite, or even the luxury Kindle Oasis model, for anyone wondering what a normal Kindle is.

    • This is a great deal!
At this price I don't see any reason to buy the upcoming kindle over the older 2015 paperwhite.

  • +2

Anyone know of stores that have them in stock in Melbourne?

    Or receipt please.

  • Wow that price is amazing

  • +1

Maaaaaan.. they're so cheap now! I bought my kindle 2014(?) when they were still almost $200…

    • -4

?? I paid $79 in 2012 and that was just the normal price.

  • +4

Top deal. The 4th gen doesn't brign much to the table other than waterproofing and a bit more base storage.

  • Do all post offices have this deal, or just Seven Hills?

  • Do these emit blue light?

    • Yes, I wish they had a "night" mode with a warm white, they are painful to read in the dark

      • +1

I believe their higher end kindles do this along with Kobo readers

        • I think the new one has an inverted mode which would be useful, be good if they would update software for the older ones to allow this, like my Kindle voyage

    • +1

Not much with how dim I have it, fall asleep straight after reading.

    • No the e-ink screen even with built-in light doesn't emit blue light.

  • +2

I can confrim Lane Cove has two in stock

    • Suppose those will be out by tomorrow, huh?

      • I just bought the last one from Lane Cove.

At last check (lady at Macquarie Centre showed me her computer) there was one in Castle Hill and one on Milsons Pt.

Best bet is to call Auspost on 131318 and ask them to help you locate one. Then ask them to call the PO and hold the unit for you.

When I got to Lane Cove the lady who was holding my unit said someone else had tried to buy it before I got there lol.

  • Is this price nationwide?

  • Holy crap will be attending P.O. tomorrow morning with fingers crossed thanks OP

  • I bought it the mid of last year and paid $139.

  • Damn! Got the lower end (lower dpi) model last year for $90

  • +9

These always seem to be unicorn deals :(

    • +1

Indeed. P.O. deal is no deal

  • can you use officeworks price beat on this?

    • +3

if you can find post office with stock office works will price match, otherwise they will ring and check price and stock and if no stock they won’t price match …..

  • +1

509 St Kilda road has one left.

    • Thanks!! I went out of my way to grab it.

      • That's awesome. Glad it went to someone on my recommendation.

  • Got the last one from North Sydney

  • None in neutral bay. Apparently on sale last week

  • None in stock at Gore St, Fitzroy VIC

  • In the morning, I bought the last stock from Hornsby PO. Thanks.

    A note about this version:
    2015 Paperwhite == Paperwhite 3 == 7th gen Kindle

It runs as fast as the current Paperwhite, and the screens are basically identical.
    But it's missing:
    - Waterproofness
    - Bluetooth (so you can't use audible)

    • can the new ones do audible?

      • Yes, but you need bluetooth headphones.

        • Guess that is why the text to speech has been removed

  • Has been thinking to get 1 for my kid since last year but the good one are too expensive. I finally got one from seven hills today. Thank you so much.

  • Bought last one Bondi Junction

    • Oh dang I was on my way to get one

  • Got the last one in Darwin City. Thanks OP

  • Bought the last one at Glenferrie Rd, Malvern. Thanks OP

  • Son of a b1 tch, literally bought a normal one yesterday from jbhifi for 109, not even the white paper!

    • Hunt for one at Aus Post then return the one you bought yesterday to JB? I’m not sure they take change of mind returns though…

      • My thoughts too, it’s for my daughters bday in a couple days, AND I’m tied up for the next couple of days in hospital, the timing couldn’t be worse!

  • Can anyone help me out with the actual model number?

    • +1

      Model G090G1 Paperwhite 3 wifi released 2015

I usually miss out on these deals but I just managed to get the last one from Altona. Thanks OP!

  • Got one thanks! Great prezzie for the wife’s birthday. One left at my store.

  • +11

Went to Innaloo (WA) to get one. The only one they had was on hold! Haha, the lady said "Gee, we've had this for ages and today everyone wants one, is it advertised?"

Anyway, she checked the system and advised the following for WA stores:
    Morley - 4
    Cannington - 2
    Mandurah - 2
    Midland - 1
    Carnarvon - 1
    Manjimup - 1

    • +1

Sorry TheZohan - that was me putting it on hold! Was told 4 in Mt Lawley though - if I knew they had some in Morley, I would have gone there!
Hope you still managed to get one elsewhere…

    • +1

Thanks for that, managed to get a friend to pick up the one left in Manjimup.

      • Manji, nice! Great part of the world.

    • Thanks for sharing this @TheZohan. Cannington was sold out. The person tried searching and couldn't find any. Oh well, guess I was too slow and while there is a sudden influx of kindle Paperwhites on gumtree, I definitely won't get it off there. Guess I'll just wait to upgrade my kindle.

  • My local post office said they’ve never stocked kindle.

  • Merrylands(12 Memorial ave) has 2

  • Just got one for my kid from Hurstville Westfield AUSPOST. Still 3 in stock, on is hold.

  • I just got one from Red Hill Post office in Rockhampton QLD 4701. They have at least two more.

  • Thanks. Picked up the last one in Morley WA

  • YEAH! i managed to price match in JB HIFI macquarie centre. ask for the store manager and show him the receipt :)

  • Mq center JB said won’t do it as can’t search online

Thanks to great customer service from our local post office on Friday, the staff got one sent to the store and I collected this morning. Thanks for posting OP!

    • +1

My post office did the same thing for me today. Thanks for the tip.

      • That is great!

        • Same thing here, got one as a gift and might get one for myself.

I can load any pdf I want on it or no?
