Why? (Genuinely curious, because I was thinking of getting one of these)
some comments from previously posted deals said that sounds was not great, its just okay.
But then some people did like the sound.
so depends on your liking and use of this device. The base is very lacklustre. To be honest, if you go to the Sony eBay store and pick up an SB20 Bluetooth speaker, you’d be better off. These speakers are akin to the Sony SB10 range.
I own Sony SB10s, SB20s and SB30s.
An SB30 is a better solution since the base is perfect for a compact speaker.
@vincesuarez: eBay has 20% off the Sony store right now
@vincesuarez: Those don't have Google Assistant and are not Google Home equivalents. You're comparing the sound quality of a speaker to which you can say "Hey Google" and access all of Google with your voice, with the sound quality of speakers which don't have that feature.
@Morven: Yeah, I understand. I’m writing my comment more for those who are interested in the sound aspect of the device.
@PinzVidz: No, its just lacks lustre. I assume its a matt finish. (Matte for the US Dictionary trolls).
@PinzVidz: Haha sorry mate, just noticed the spelling error.
@vincesuarez: I tried to search for Sony SB20, but found none. Did you mean XB20 like this one: https://www.catch.com.au/product/sony-xb20-portable-wireless…
Thanks
@Averell: Sorry, I meant like the SB2, SB3 and SB4 range. I think they’re up to like SB21, SB31 etc
At the rate this is going, Sony will be paying us to buy their speakers
Great speaker with great sound! Not sure why they keep dropping the price.
It’s now $119 on the Sony website. New RRP?
I speculate, but I imagine it would have had close to a 100% return rate at the original price. I got mine for $119 from the original JB deal, and took it back even at that price. I don’t know what Sony was smoking sellling such a poor sounding speaker.
This sony smart speaker > Google home hub
In terms of the audio quality? Sure. Apples and oranges otherwise.
Audio quality, volume , looks, clock, and audio is 360 much better then the home , the home had to side woofers that aimed to the side and the mid/ high driver in the centre so audio was not very good if you weren't in front of the thing and it was just not loud enough for a living room or large bedroom
So you probably meant Google Home, not Google Home Hub. Otherwise this comparison doesn't make sense.
@elektron: Yes sorry home , but Google home hub is on par to the mini
google home at least has up to date cast firmware, this thing is very far behind in firmware version and relies on Sony to push it out. prior to an update that allowed the clock to dim in February this year this thing hasn't had firmware updated since Nov 2017.
at this price i assume they are clearing them out because they dont want to look after them.
want the google max $360 deal back again please
Damn bought the speaker during the Sony discount a few days back at $119 + 2% cashback
This is even better!Brought one took it back the next day it's not loud you have to have it at 90% to hear it and it has no bass and the controls are terrible don't wast your money
I felt the same way
$57.10 with IheartRadio $50 voucher! though pick up today, went to back-ordered :/
Anybody successfully used the code? For me it says - You have entered a duplicate promotion code "MAR10".
you get that when its an excluded item, happened to me, was seeing if they made a mistake and let it on the samsung tablets on sale, which are exclude lol
I was using that code on a samsung microwave.
Is that good as a portable wireless speaker? Can u just play over Bluetooth if want to?
Still a terrible device
