Melbourne to Bali on Malindo Air – from $193 Return (Various Dates from Apr to Nov, Cheapest Seem to Be November)

160

Found some very cheap prices to Bali from Melbourne.

Malindo Air is possibly recognisable to most Aussies as the airline that flew Schapelle Corby back from Bali, avoiding reporters and the media frenzy.

They’re opening new routes – flying from MEL, ADL and SYD (some of these starting later this year).

We’ve found a bargain flight price later this year, and there are decent prices throughout.

Airline: Malindo

From: MEL

To: DPS (Bali)

When: throughout the year

Examples:

– $193 Return – 8 Nov to 14 Nov – https://bookings.beatthatflight.com.au/flights/mel0811dps141…
– $193 Return – 9 Nov to 14 Nov – https://bookings.beatthatflight.com.au/flights/mel0911dps141…
– $203 Return – 10 Nov to 13 Nov – https://bookings.beatthatflight.com.au/flights/mel1011dps131…

November seems to be the best, but under $300 is possible in most months from April to November.

To be fair, I've not been to Bali, but after years of international travel, I've yet to find a country that I can't find something to enjoy about.

Best way to enjoy your comment is to neg your stupid comment.

      • +1

It's a free country. You're just as entitled to your stupid comments as I am to mine.

        • ‘Kaptian Kaos’😂😔 our of controll

        • But you see how your stupid comment is not appreciated

          • @geeluv: Couldn't care less whether it's appreciated or not.

That's not freedom of speech works.

@[Deactivated]: It means the freedom to say whatever you want. Don't tell me what to do.

  • thats pretty damn cheap,

    very tempted!

  • Anyone recommend Malindo Air? Never flown with them before.

Pretty good airline they are part of lionair group.

      • How reassuring.

Whilst I've never flown with Malindo Air, I have flown with Lion Air (I believe one of them owns the other). Pasting my comment below from a previous deal…

"Malindo Air are owned by Lion Air, I've flown a lot in the past few years and I want to point out Lion Air are the worst airline I've ever flown with.

Lion seem to sit between Budget and Full Service, offering free baggage but no food (can't even buy on board). I've taken 4 flights with them domestically around Indonesia, should have been 3 flights. Our flight from Medan to Bandung literally landed in the wrong city, we landed in Jakarta. We weren't informed of this until landing. Were told we could leave the terminal to get food but then we weren't allowed back in. Didn't have a Jakarta boarding pass so I couldn't clear back through security. I wasn't able to get a new boarding pass as they're system doesn't allow it, none of the people on the ground knew why I was in Jakarta either (as my ticket was KNO>BDO). After about 30 minutes, one of the workers ended up writing me up a boarding pass by hand, I only knew what gate to be at as I managed to get on Wifi and one of the other people I was travelling with let me know. The staff had no idea why or how I got to Jakarta (not noticing that a plane had just landed from Medan). The weird thing is that no staff at the airport even questioned my hand written boarding pass, I showed it to at least 3 people. Eventually I managed to board a flight to Bandung, but definitely the worst airline experience I've ever had.

Another thing that was weird is that we couldn't prebook extra baggage (20kg each included). 7 of us were travelling with over 200kg, each airport staff member charged us different amounts, seemingly guessing how much to charge us, the last flight we got charged nothing."

      • If you had a problem on a Jetstar flight, would you be complaining about Qantas?

        • But we all know that Qantas owns Jetstar and the nastiness comes from head office and the CEO (if indeed it is the case)

Flew with them internationally from KL.
No issues. Clean plane, good food.

    • I have always had some reservations about them. This article doesn't help

      • That is why the flights are so cheap. Subsidies. I am starting an airline called Ozark Air :D

    • Flew Malindo BKK to KL. Nothing memorable or special. Comfortable and good service nevertheless

    • Except for Garuda , I won’t fly with any airlines operated by Indonesian operated companies as poor record of safety, SOP, maintenance etc are continuing .

  • I was going to use a malinfo flight to fly within Asia and had heard they were ok and full service including checked bags. From my limited research it looks like checked bags are free up to 15kg and over $10 per kg after that. This may suit many but don’t get caught out assuming it’s 23-30kg.

    💐

    • they use to be 25kg recently changed to 15kg to save costs. You get 15kg checked in + 7kg carry on luggage.

  • Edit

  • Wow. Wish they would fly from sydney

Wow. Wish they would fly from Brisbane

      • +1

no they already do from Brisbane to Bali , i booked 2 tickets to bali last night for 350 in April during easter break

Just checked now if you go 22 to and return on 28 its 270$

        • just booked for $246 during the easter break/school holidays.

          nice

    • They are, starting in June…

      • I think you might be referring to Air Asia or Cebu , Melindo already fly from Brisbane

      • Sydney or Brisbane from June?

  • killing me that those $193 flights don't return on friday night instead of thursday night! gives the weekend to recover before going back to work (and means the annual leave taken for the Friday is used on holiday rather than at home recovering from a red eye flight - although I suppose the true budget traveller would sleep on the plane and go to work on the friday…)

    • +1

It's like 2-3 hour time difference. You don't really need time to recover. I have literally landed at 12 pm at night and rocked up to work the next morning like wassup.

      • +2

It's not so much that but the fact the return flight lands at 5am. If it landed at midnight I'd agree with you!

        • +3

Just rock up to work and have clothes there ready for you to change into. Get 2 coffee's into your system. Say G'day to everyone. Go for a "coffee break" where you have a 20 min power nap. Nap during lunch and then sign out at 3 and sleep. You can do this. I believe in you.

          • @geeluv: This really is the motivation that I needed!

            • +1

@xyron: haha, yeah. I value annual leave like it's gold. It's going to be hard the day you come back but worth it since you get to enjoy the holiday just that bit longer, and as i mentioned, Bali is not that bad, so the jetlag is not so difficult. Enjoy!

  • They are supposed to start flying from Adelaide on April 1st but still doesn't appear to be a way to book?

  • Can’t wait to try out that flash new 737 Max 8!

  • When can we book for Sydney to Bali?

  • Malindo air are great - flown with them in Malaysia. they are 10x better than AirAsia

Not wanting to be a party pooper … but I question these sites, as bookings.beatthatflight.com.au allows these two elements:

    auid.aviasales.ru
    mamka.aviasales.ru

As these are two russian sites where data is sentout of

Have a look on their history here
    https://otx.alienvault.com/indicator/domain/mamka.aviasales.…

Any comments, thoughts? Just let it be? Cant see anything similar with other travel sites …

  • What are gotogate like to deal with? Are they legit? Might be worth booking direct for few dollars extra

    • +1

If the price difference is not significant to you, always do your best to book direct.

More people between you and the airline increases your risks in the event something goes wrong with an intermediary.

And to further protect yourself, try to book with a Visa/MasterCard/AMEX.

  • Malindo flies Bali to Brisbane and Melbourne. But there's nothing for Brisbane?

    • +1

there is. i posted a deal

  • It's a good deal if traveling without luggage.

    • No chance. Got to take a body board with a lump in the bag on the way in and some wooden souvenirs on the way back, no better way to get onto TV.

  • im getting $281 for melb to bali in Nov,

is this the case, and prices have changed?
or am I doing it wrong

    • Depends on the day, there may still be some available - but it was also 9 days ago and airline prices do fluctuate, a lot :/

      • Is that big monthly calendar thing with prices the best way to find ?
Are there any 193 flights left for any time in not?
