Sorry, negging due to risk factor regarding redmeption. See forums regarding scoopon problems.

    • +2

I don't think it is fair to be negatively voting all deals due to problems members have had with other establishments. Many scoopons can and have been redeemed with no troubles. You should discuss this problem in the forums rather than affect what the apparent value of this bargain might be

      • +1

Some people don;t read the forums. They should be as fully informed as possible. Someone might buy 5 of these vouchers thinking they will get a nice holiday, only to find it is $450 down the drain. They need to be informed of the risks so they can decide.

        • +2

But doesnt the deal disappear after X negs? Therefore, so does your comment and warning.

        • -1

it seems some people got mob mentality.

if you got problem with the merchant and the merchant not response your query, pick up ur phone and call your credit card for charge back the merchant, because merchant doesn't full fill their duty. but before you do that make sure that you are in the right position and have fully comply with their term and condition.

    • If I am not mistaken, what are you saying is that contrary to the advertisement ("Buy multiple Scoopons and extend your stay"), it is likely that coupon holders may not be able to book consecutive nights on the coupons. Is that correct? Thanks voteoften for heads up.

      • the coupon is entitle for 1 night only, so if you need to extend your stay, you need to buy more coupon.
buy multiple scoopons = buy extra scoonpons then you can extend your stay.
you might not be able to book consecutive nights if the hotel already fully booked, again this is refer back to their term and condition "Subject to availability"

  • mate, this is online booking directly with the hotel, you don't need to call or speak with someone. you can check the room availability via this site http://www.thebookingbutton.com.au/properties/hotelheritagedā€¦

it seems this room only available for check in thursday - sunday

I was trying to do the calculations on this deal.

The hotel has 208 rooms, but this offer is just for deluxe rooms, not business suites, superior rooms, or standard rooms.

At 5pm today, there are 1037 scoopons sold.

    From 11 May to 11 Nov, given that it's Thu-Sun each week only, that's 25 weeks @ 4 nights per week = 100 nights.

Even if everyone was perfectly balanced out and wanted to use each of the nights with equal likelihood, that's ~11 deluxe rooms per night already taken. Probability suggests that more people will be wanting Fri/Sat nights for short getaways rather than Thu or Sun, so I'd expect an imbalance in the desired nights for booking.

It might be possible for someone to know how many deluxe rooms are in the hotel, but I can't imagine that every deluxe room will be available to Scoopon users.

With 43 hours still to go before the rooms can be booked, this does seem a bit of a gamble. I already have plans to be in Canberra during this period, but I'm holding off at this time because of the risk of ending up paying for rooms in a city and not being able to get the two specific nights I need.

This is why scoopon can be a complete joke when it comes to accomodation deals.

    • So if I see any complaints in the ensuing months, I will direct those people to this post and how some people thought that potential buyers should not be directed to potential redemption issues.

    • Just under 15 hours to go and 1750 vouchers sold. Quite an earner for someone. That's 17 rooms per night, or just under 10% of their occupancy for the ENTIRE hotel, not just the deluxe rooms.

      • +1

This'll be a nice earner for ebay as well people will be trying to dump these vouchers when they can't get in.

I will note that even though the post says this is valid until 11 November, the booking page for the hotel shows no availability from 31 Oct onwards. That is before the deal has even closed. It appears it is being advertised as valid when there is no availability!

        Getting close to 1800 sold.

        • Yeah, I noticed when I was counting the available days that it ended before the advertised period. I ended up going through week by week to see if there were any other gaps in the schedule but the end was the only missing portion.

          They're up to 1828 now.

I have just asked for a refund and been refused. I have suggested that they reconsider, etc.

    • If I am not intruding, could I ask the reasons you said for requesting the refund?

    • Amazing how quick they got back to you on that when people trying to deaal with Mocean vouchers not being honored waited weeks for a refusal, after which time the expiration date had come up and Scoopon used that as an excuse.

  • The link they gave on their website was down most of yesterday. I was unaware that the vouchers weren't available until May 11. They have not given a time at which the voucher will be available. The wording of the offer did not make it clear that the offer was a lottery. This is the first scoopon offer I have taken up. They should advertise that their offers are scams, by placing suitable warnings in the offers' descriptions.

    • Did Scoopon change the fine print after the deal was over? O.o

      • nope. i am still a bit confuse with robbiequinn.

    • this is the link from original post http://www.scoopon.com.au/deals/2701/just-89-for-1-night-at-ā€¦
it is stated very clear that voucher is available from 11 may.
i am a bit confuse in here when you said that the offer is a lottery. how this offer become a lottery? I am able to buy my scoopon last night.

    • I tried to warn you, but people negged my negative vote and my warning disappeared.

They are selling more today. Ebay and paypal will make some money on this.

      • +1

But if he's demanding a refund just cause he didnt read the fine print carefully (in this case, correct me if Im wrong- not realising the voucher wasnt available till 11th May), its a reasonable that Scoopon refused to. Unless Scoopon changed the fine print…

      • we don't even know exactly how many room will be available. seriously, can you have a bit positive in your mind. it seems if someone made mistake, this person should get capital punishment. full stop no remorse what so ever from you.

get a life mate. i believe similar company like scoopon will have customer that not satisfied. but not all of them will come here to complaint. no company that have 100% customer satisfaction. that is the fact. your scare campaign doesn't help full in any way for people get some bargain.

        • "we don't even know exactly how many room will be available"

Exactly. Why scamper for a bargain when over 2000 have sold, availability is less than presented and when you know what sort of customer service you will be up against if there are any problems whatsoever.

          Better deals will come along.

I am wondering why you are pushing this particular deal so hard. You joined on 5 May and you are really pushing this one hard for no apparent reason.

        • i also wondering why you are pushing so hard as well that this is not a good deal? this is my post, so i don't want people like you just do scare campaign without any valid reason. some small business never handle hundred or thousand order, but remember this is hotel that normally able to handle hundred of customers. so thousand is not a big deal for them.

      • u might guess i work for scoopon right? check my other post as well. i join ozbargain, not ozwhinger group.

so everything that sold thousand; their credibility will be questionable? i have to question your logic as well.

        • +1

It was a lottery. I guess your understanding of English is not that great. You pay, wait several days, then try like crazy to get the actual date you want. You are not reserving a room when you pay scoopon. You are paying for the chance to reserve a room for the date you want.
By the way, vouchers became available today, and the reservations site has been down all morning. It was also down most of Sunday, as I said in my original reply. I managed to book at 3am this morning, when I woke up worrying that I had done my $89.

        • @ Robbiequinn

You are not reserving a room when you pay scoopon. You are paying for the chance to reserve a room for the date you want.

But arent most group-buy vouchers like that? eg for restaurants and services. So really, pretty much all group-buy vouchers are lotteries. No surprise with this deal.

And I dont work for scoopon btw, Im interested in other peoples experiences with group-buy so if I do buy something from them one day and it goes wrong, I have an idea what to do/expect.

        • which part of my english that not great?

i have booked my room at 10 am this morning for stay this weekend, without any issue. i have checked their booking system yesterday as well without any issue. it seems its only you that got the issue.

  • @joannatan "which part of my english that not great?" That part, for example. Many of your sentences are grammatically incorrect and ambiguous. You're also guilty of trolling. I repeat that yesterday, and Sunday, for most of the day the link to the hotel was down, and it was impossible to book. I don't have issues. If you can't understand that I was critising the whole Scoopon concept, and not you, I can't help you.
