  • "The $40 bonus offer is only available to new Orange Everyday customers" - this makes it sound like the offer is still open for existing customers who don't have an orange everyday account. Anyone like to confirm? Will the offer still go through if I apply for the account through the ing members area?

    • as long as you have never had an everyday orange account. i know someone who had a maximiser account and opened an orange account for http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/39896 and got paid.

  • looks good. Is NAB still offering that $50 credit as well or has that deal expired?

    • expired. if you are patient they might offer it again in a couple of months

So many "open an account we give you $50" deals recently but I already have an Orange Everyday account. ING is a better bank anyway so you may as well just take this offer.

      • yeah NAB, Westpac, St George all have had server failures. I think CBA did too but not too sure. Haven't heard of anything like that for ING

  • Is this deal worth it or worth waiting for a better offer for opening an everyday account?

    • I'm not someone who is going to say no to free money in the hope they 1. give out free money in the future. 2. give out substantially more money in the next deal. Depends on your personality I guess. They gave out $123 6 years ago so maybe you'll get lucky.

  • What is this shit? "We were unable to verify your identity electronically. Please follow the steps below to complete your application process. Take your Identity Verification Form and original document(s) in person to an Australia Post outlet with the Bank@PostTM service within 90 Days (before your application expires). "

    • banks are required to verify the identity of account holders. aus post will sight your id and send the application off to ingdirect. no big deal

      • Wasn't the case when i signed up for my savings maximiser or virgin money account.

        • +2

i think it is because you are opening a transaction account with visa debit card. using a linked account with the same account name must be sufficient for the maximiser/virgin accounts where all you can do is transfer to/from the linked account.

        • mattgal, yeah that's a fair point. I guess it isn't much of a hassel if your weekly routine involves a trip close to a post office.

You mustn't be one of the 77 Million registered on the Playstation Network, so they need more details.

$40 is not worth the trouble. $100 n i might lolx

    • +2

Considering you can do it online, and at MOST just go to your local post office and show your ID, its hardly too much trouble. And its actually a reasonably good transaction account.

      • If you are already an existing ING Direct customer (Savings Maximiser, etc), the process is even easier. No trip to the post office required, just filling in a short online form.

Two months ago ING ran the same $40 offer. I signed up, made one purchase on the Orange debit card and received my $40 about 3 weeks later. The purchase doesn't even have to be $40 or more. 'Free' money :-)

        • u mean having one more "clinet number" account? this way u will have 2 or 3 or 4 debit card depending how many new accounts u open?

    • +1

mate, frankly, you seem to be in a totally different league - we're all Oz-bargainers

Some bonus deals like this need you to dump your salary in it. At least with this one you only need to use the debit card by 31 July…

  • ref "the bonus payment will apply to the first Orange Everyday Visa Debit Card purchase" Can it be any amount and does it matter if you press savings or does it have to be on the credit button?

    • +2

Not sure if it will work this time, but last time I just transferred money to my PayPal account from the new card and back again and the money was credited.

No purchase necessary, no money spent.

      • Can anyone else verify if it can be done this way with paypal?

    • +3

seriously, just buy a pack of gum or something from coles to comply with the t&cs.

  • Opened an account last time and got the $40; then closed the account. Wonder if you can go again?

    • +2

let us know how it goes :)

  • Just signed up.
Needed to go to the PO as well.

  • Does anyone know their foreign currency exchange fees? T&Cs say to refer to their website, but I scoured their website and nothing is there. Are they as good as the Wizard ClearAdvantage Mastercard - who absorb the fees?

      • That's a "no" then?
Seriously, nothing matches the Wizard or 28 Degrees as it is now known.

        • except that most non-citizens are eligible for one.
Which I expect would be the people using it most

      • I phoned them up before and they said it's 2.5% for eftpos purchases, which is normal but it's more than wizard. I have to wonder though if that fee applies to say online purchases - which aren't at at any physical point-of-sale. I complained to them that there is nothing about it on their website.

Edit: Just had another look at that fees and charges brochure. I swear that they didn't have the 2.5% for international purchases in it before…

  • Good timing as I am anyway planning to open shortly. Thanks

  • +2

Just a warning, if you don't supply your tax file number in the application process they will automatically withhold 40% of the bonus offer. When I signed up for the $30 deal I didn't understand why they wanted my TFN and in the end I only got $17, my mistake but in the end not really worth it for only $17.

    • Lol sometimes I totally forget that this kind of bonus money is taxable income. Shame that my tax bracket will probably be a bit higher this year…

    • and in the end I only got $17

it gets taken into account when you file your tax return

    • Just claim it back when you do your tax return and you'll get a payment from the ATO.

    • Wanted to update that I gave them my TFN and they refunded the amount.

      Thanks ING :)

  • How can we close the account once we extract the money from ING :)

  • ring up. i don't think you can do it online. you might as well keep it open for future referral promos

  • +1

Just received my bonus cash!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I spent $1 via eftpos and the $40 was put in straight away which brings my total received from ing in 2 months to $70. Greatest deal ever. :D

  • Lodged my ID confirmation today at the PO.

  • I didnt seem to get the area when signing up that asks you for the TFN?

    • ring up and supply

      • Thanks.
        Activated my card.
        Now going to transfer money.

  • wow i rec'd the card on 24 and made purchase on 26, checked ytd and found that the $40 went into the account on 26th!! so they deposited money right after my purchase! how efficient is that!

  • I received my $40 too. Yay!
