there's dozens and these are the standard benefits?

    • -1

Yes standard membership. I was at a bike shop today when they told me I could get an extra 15 percent off with my Bupa membership.

      • I could be wrong, but I don't think listing member benefits is fit for 'deals', maybe the forum?

If people started listing perks of membership with everything, we'd be here all day.

        • Should your comment also applies to Costco deals?

        • -1

Report the deal if you think it should be in the forums. I find your neg vote somewhat rude given OP has taken time out to post for the benefit of others. Unless you've found a better deal, think Bupa is a defective product, have a major issue with Bupa, then your neg is also invalid.

  • Prove to me that BUPA is the best value private health fund out there and maybe I'll give it an up vote.

Because saving a few bucks on the price of a pushbike or some fancy sports shoes means sweet FA to most of us when the cost of dental care and private hospital cover is just about to go up by at least that much every fortnight for the average family.

How about just sticking to providing affordable, good value health cover? Now that really would be worth an upvote on OzBargain.

    • Comparing health fund providers are difficult they all have different premium, claim amounts, waiting periods, inclusions, exclusions, etc.

Basically they smart, make their products difficult to compare.

One good for me maybe not so good for you, maybe so so for your uncle.

This is not something like where is the cheapest store to get iPhone x

    • I have compared a lot of health funds and find Bupa provides the best deals including coverage and value for money. Each to their own I suppose but yes, you wouldn't take Bupa membership to get these benefits.

      • Fair enough.

Although the fact that the Commonwealth Ombudsman labelled BUPA's hospital policies as 'detrimental to its members' late last year because they were contemplating restricting benefits for things like knee and hip replacements and cataract surgery tells me otherwise, But at least they reneged on those proposed changes in response to widespread criticism.

My comment stands - health funds should focus on delivering decent health coverage to members rather than discounts for bikes and sport shoes. Especially when they are heavily subsidised by taxpayers.

        • see my points? its difficult borderline impossible. if some competitor come up with identical product/plan, one provider can just add one extras or increase the benefit by few dollars. then for someone who using that a lot, this suddenly become "better" "cheaper". for others, no.

  • wow 15% off a Project One Madone with Di2 Discs and Aeoleus wheels could add up to a serious saving, could almost be worth buying junk health insurance to get a $1500+ discount on a bike

    • I checked out the T&Cs, and unfortunately it says: "…excludes Project One customisable bikes."
But a stock Madone at $13-$15k RRP would still involve a substantial saving.
In saying that, one of the T&Cs says "The offer excludes some bikes." No idea which bikes are actually excluded.
