If this socket is so smart can it tell me why Linda left me?

    • Ahah, well if its connected to Alexa or google home it may help.

    • +7

Was it because she got tired of carrying around spare socks?

    • +1

I thought Lois was your wife? And when did she leave you?!

    • Linda left you because you cheated on her with Alexa

  • Trying to figure out if it's supported by Home Assistant… doesn't look like it though.

    • When there's a will, there's a way. It supports IFTTT so you could use that if you weren't fussed latency & cloud.

      • IFTTT integration is great

    • There's a good chance it's a Tuya device, in which case it will work with the Tuya component in HA. The previous similar deal for the $20 Brilliant smart switch sold by Bunnings is a Tuya rebranded device.

      • Yeah, that was also my thinking too.

      • Brightfun is the app so should work with Tuya, but is not legal in AU. You may as well order a Sonoff.

        Looks like a Frankever device.

    • It is probably a rebadged version of one of the others. Have a look at the app it uses.

  • What's the output of the two USBs? Could't find the info anywhere.

    • I believe it's just standard 2.4

i think that's price is incorrect. or at least i cant make it to work 2x for 18$

    • Lol. Not sure if you are trolling but socket comes with 2usb ports

      • Correct, it's only 2x usb ports, not two units

  • Is it only the socket is smart? Or you can control the socket and usb ports separately?

    • +1

      It's only the smart socket

  • Been looking at these on Amazon. Are they as good as the TP Link ones for double the price? Thanks

    • Once connected up via Alexa or google home, brand doesn't really matter, they all work pretty much

    • I have a couple of the TP-Link power monitoring plugs. I can say compared to no-name brands, the more reputable ones like TP-Link are more likely to push out firmware updates. This is important for security reasons.
Up to a point you get what you pay for.

There is a similar one at Bunnings for under $20. Can pickup for free. That one only had 1 usb though, did not look at other details.

    • Well this one offers a second while being cheaper (with prime shipping)

    • I agree. Plus the one at Bunnings is vertical and doesn't block any neighbouring socket.

    • what's the bunnings deal?

      • They are 20 and they work great with alexa

  • No energy monitoring.

  • Looks like it's expired by now? It asks for $26.99 now.

    • Did you put in the above code at checkout? 6EE35EK2 edit just tried still working

  • I'm tempted but am I really needing this?

  • Thanks OP bought 2.
Been looking for similar unit - right integration of (2) USB with smart switch for decent price.

  • Code not working for me? Oh well just saved myself some money not purchasing things I don't need.

  • I got the below error message

The promotional code you entered cannot be applied to your purchase.

  • +1

Code not working for me. can you please check

  • Code not working for me either

  • is the "smart" part of it that it has an app and you can control it via alexa etc?

I'm trying to figure out if all it is is that it can power on and off remotely?

Cos like most of my appliances don't just turn on and do its thing when there's power. My aircon doesn't, my tv doesn't, my kitchen appliances don't. My pedestal fan does that's about all I can think of.

    • You can do it via IFTT, google home app, alexa app or ewelink app aswell if you wish . I personally use these sorts of switches for my pedestal fan to turn on and off from across the room with my alexa.

  • I see if you click on the link now it takes you to two for $31.99 without the USB's
