hahah Nice.. Sorry about Sony WH-1000XM3 ;-)

  • Does anyone know what the cheapest ever Switch price has been so far?

    • -6

      367.20

    • I swear it was $329 with a coupon on Amazon, can't find it though.

This is pretty good (and excellent if you still have 15% off ebay gift cards left)

      • Oh yeah, found it! This seems to be a pretty good price though. THere's been 359 a couple of times.

$315 on amazon during prime day and it was $315 during some other amazon sale.

They it was a stock count of like 100 total and the sale showed up and sold up in 3 minutes.

    • I got mine for $330 by combining 10% off PayPal credit and a 10% off eBay sale.

      • How did you get 10% off PayPal credit?

        • +1

There was that sale last year. Happened twice, and the first time I missed it. Second time I loaded right up.

    • TGG on ebay had it for $320 after 20% off just before christmas, when they priced the switch at $399

  • amazon will probably match this

    • +1

I hope so, I'm after the grey one which tgg does not stock

    • Why would they match ebay?

      • +3

Why wouldn't they? They seem to match everyone.

    • waiting …

edit: had to pull the trigger on this one as selling like hotcakes!

    • Just tried to get JB to price match it, no deal

  • -4

Someone write to amazon asking to price match plz :)

    • +1

      What did they say?

    • When you wrote to them what did they say?

      • probably something like "Amazon.com consistently works toward maintaining competitive prices on everything we carry.

        Amazon.com doesn't offer price matching."

  • But will they honor this one?

  • I know this isn't the right thread for this, but I have the Wii U and playing Zelda BotW.
I went to JB and tried it on the switch, the graphics were identical, yes the Switch has a few extra games that Wii U doesn't. But wondering if I can justify the $360+ for the same gfx?

    • +2

It’s the same game released at the same time, so yeah, it looks similar. From what I remember the Switch version has slightly better resolution.

The appeal of a Switch isn’t the latest graphics, it’s the fact that it’s a portable console that has access to Nintendo’s most recent games. If you want a console with better graphics, get any of the Xbox SKU’s or PS4 SKU’s.

Can't play a Wii on the train.

      • +2

You can, with a car battery.

        • +1

          Improvise, adapt, overcome.

    • New games are coming out on the switch, so there might be non-botw games you play to get your money's worth. On the wii u there's no new games any more.

    • +1

The Wii U with homebrew is the best way to play every Nintendo game up until generation 9.
The switch is the only way to play most of the generation 9 Nintendo games, and is the best way to play the ported titles.*
      Here are some examples:

The switch release of BOTW gets a more consistent 30fps and runs at 900p when docked vs 720p on the wii U.

The Mario Kart 8 port runs as 1080p 60fps vs 720p 59fps on the wii U and features a proper battle mode.

Smash Ultimate on the switch looks a lot better than Smash 4 on the Wii U.

If you are only interested in BOTW and have the wii u, don't bother upgrading. I have both and the difference isn't very significant.

*excluding the wii u emulator: Cemu, which can run a lot of games at 4k, ultra wide, 60fps. Also excluding the switch emulator: yuzu, which can run some switch games.

  • Do people think it is worth it to get another for homebrew?

    • Not yet, one day maybe.

    • Not at this time, this one will be patched. But it you get an old model then yes :)

    • +1

Do I think Homebrew is worth it? Hell yeah, streaming games from your PC, emulators, game mods etc is amazing

Do I think it's worth having the second one for Nintendo's anemic ripoff online, nope lol.

(To be clear this model is 99% chance of being unhackable, I assume you mean buying an older model from Ebay / a place where you can check serials in store etc)

      • Thanks everyone.

I bought one at launch so was thinking of using that for cfw and getting an additional one for online play (yes I know the online service sucks but still…)

  • Is anyone else getting "this code can't be applied to your order" for the switch?

    • Works for me?

    • i paid for mine 15 seconds after 10am and it worked for me

      • 70 sold in first 10 mins.

    • It worked for me about 5 minutes ago. Are you logged in?

    • +2

Ah thanks everyone, there must be something wrong with my account. eBay had messed me around a lot in the last year after changing my account currency (moved home from abroad) so I made a new account and it worked.

      Happy days, I'm excited!

Got a lot of 'something went wrong' errors when I selected store pickup, but let me check out when I selected postage.

    • Any chance to pay successfully?

      • Yeah, I checked out successfully once I chose postage instead of pickup.

    AMAZON PRICE MATCH IS LIVE!

    • cancel ebay purchase?

      • Up to you, I'm claiming price protection on my purchase of a Grey Switch a couple of months ago.

        • think i'll cancel. Amazon offer free shipping too.

          • @Juice08: I went with Amazon for the same reason. That and the cheaper games. To not offer free shipping on larger ticket items in today's state of eCommerce is a little… backwards.

            • @GrecDeFreckle: apparently i can't cancel my order? oh well I got two now.

              • +1

@Juice08: You won't be able to cancel your order because TGG's would have marked the order as shipped. However, given most courier services pick up in the afternoon you can put through a message to their CS team requesting the order to not be shipped and instead be cancelled. The CS team would catch that and let the despatch team know.

If it's sent anyway, you should be able to open a return request and send it back on TGG's coin though, as they should have caught it before sending it.

                • +1

@GrecDeFreckle: Just checked with CS and looks like my order is cancelled on their system. Out of stock now so someone got mine hopefully.

                  • @Juice08: That's good to hear!

I had mine arrive today from Amazon, weirdly fast postage from Australia Post. Guess I'll be using Amazon more in the future…

      • How do you cancel an ebay purchase? I think i'd prefer the grey controllers over the coloured ones from good guys ebay

    • with 6% shopback or 5% cashrewards, takes it to $347.17

  • Does the TGG still use the dodgy delivery contractors they hire and not Australia post? I’d be weary of them based on my last experience.

  • It's good Amazon has price matched, especially for the grey and free delivery

    Nintendo Switch - Grey Joy-Con https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B01LTHP2ZK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i…

  • For those missing this and amazon deal.

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Nintendo-Switch-Grey-Joy-Con/223…

359.10 after 10%off deal, even cheaper.

    • Post it!

      • i think they don't have many. maybe even just 1.

        • Listings already gone!

    • not if you have CR or Shopback but still good advice.

  • I made a purchase to collect it from one of the store. But I am still waiting for an order confirmation number from eBay so that I am able to collect it from the store. Anyone having the same issue?

    Thanks.
