New Delhi, India Return on Singapore Airlines from PER $686 / ADL $760 / MEL $800 / SYD $742 (Apr-Nov) @ FlightScout

540

FlightScout has great prices to New Delhi, via Singapore on 5* Singapore Airlines.

Airline: Singapore Airlines
From: most major Aussie ports
To: New Delhi, India
Alliance: Star Alliance

Note that the prices are sometimes higher on FS but then lower when you click through to the final skyscanner link. Caching eh. I find FS easier to use to find the dates first though.

  • Anyone have any experience travelling to New Delhi this time of year?

    Only see $814 from Sydney.

    • Yeah, click through to skyscanner (as in post), it's cheaper once you get to skyscanner, just the dates are easier to find on FS.

    • +1

Also it's quite a range, but from experience, June was VERY hot / edge of monsoon. Quite intense to drive rickshaws across the country :/

    • +4

It's like Point Cook, but hotter

    • I just came back from new Delhi first visit on the 2nd of march. It was pretty cold, just glad i came back early or a bit risky staying there now since of the possibility of war with India and Pakistan.

      • +2

It ain't happening. Do you read news? Pretty safe to travel around in India except that < 2% of the total geographic area which is a bit rough these days.

        • Yes but it was pretty worrying while there :)

          • +1

@firsttimeuser7: Was it your first time?

          • @firsttimeuser7: Get used to it and travel more often. You'll like it. It's safe. People don't carry guns there and you will rarely come across dark streets where there's no one. Try to avoid such areas if you ever do.

How did you like the food, by the way? Now don't tell us it was as raw as dry, cold sandwiches that we often find in other places.

            • @virhlpool: Food was great, apart from the bad stomach aches and diarrhea. I ate only in big restaurants and was being safe but still got effected. One of the hotels said they would give breakfast but only gave toast and butter…. other 3 hotels were great.

              • @firsttimeuser7: Brekkie spread is quite amazing there in most of the big hotels. Sorry to hear your stomach got affected despite precautions. Not sure what could be wrong.

      • +3

things have calmed down a lot in both countries

      • +4

possibility of war with India and Pakistan for last 72 years? lol

    • +3

On the warming up side but if you stay in a decent hotel (4* and up) with AC and move around in an AC vehicle (a must) then early April should be OK. Don't worry about any war - that ain't gonna happen.

      • FBI knows for sure war is not happening.

        • I would have thought that would be CIA's area of expertise :)

  • Any deals to south India from Perth

  • I would suggest wearing masks when outside

  • 22 of world's 30 most polluted cities are in India, Greenpeace says .

    https://www.theguardian.com/cities/2019/mar/05/india-home-to…

    • Guess Chinese cities aren't on the list to appease the race that keeps Australia afloat?

      • Indian cities overtook china in pollution for a few years.
Aussie media just enjoyed the china bashing games.

      • The findings have to be made public to be on the list. I'm sure there are more deserving places that should be on the list but their governments are not transparent enough to make the findings public. But yes Delhi is quite polluted.

  • Any suggestions of what masks to buy? I see a lot of Asian people wearing masks in Australia but you need them more in Asia.

    • Tin foil masks.

  • Nothing for October. Half the flights are same day return on the same plane. Who makes these combos?

  • New Dehli->train(2nd AC) to Jaipur->Taxi to Agra (so you can see Chand Baori and Fatehpur Sikri)->Train(2nd AC) to New Dehli

Pretty safe and relatively easy; plenty of things to see and do at New Dehli and Jaipur via tuk tuk. (Agra not so much)
