Was told this is now a discontinued model. Price has dropped at Microsoft Store to $1899 and JBHIFI also down to $1897 from $2197.

  Apparently the RAM is soldered to the motherboard, so you probably can't upgrade it after purchase. However you can buy a version with 16GB RAM.

The $300 discount at the Microsoft store also applies to other models (eg 15" 16GB RAM 256 SSD is $3349 down from $3649).

Yeah i think these models are getting discounted across the board. JB Hi Fi have discounted their models by about $400 on average.
