Today I bought Samsung Galaxy Book 2, Telstra offered me 10GB Data with Peace of Mind Data option which means after you use 10Gb then the speed will go down but you can still use data. Plus there is Bonus Multiport Adapter (Valued at $179). The $85 Plan is $10 less with 5GB Bonus Data.

Is this much of a deal?

I feel like it's marginal at best?

The reviews of this thing are terrible. No wonder I have never heard of it. It's no surprise given Samsung's track record with laptops.

It's the new model. If you haven't heard of it that's because you haven't been reading up.

Well, using Snapdragon in a Windows tablet is a bad idea performance wise.

As a successor to the i5 Galaxy Book, I consider it a massive downgrade.

Multiport, not Mutiport. Also I'm assuming the deal is 10GB per month?

  • Deal breaker for me: 4GB of ram.

    • and Qualcomm Snapdragon 850, not sure about the performance

      • Would be fine specs for an Android tablet though. But not for this price.

    • Better off getting Book 1. It was available in 8GB. And with an x86 processor.

I'm sitting here typing on a Galaxy Book 1 and watching AFL through Foxtel on my older TabPro S. As an expert in Samsung tablets, I can tell you the Snapdragon chip the GB2 has, is a piece of dog poo. For a 24 month contract for $2,040? BWAHAHAHA.

Can get a GB1 8GB/256 for $750 if you haggle on gumtree/facebook like I did. Even a TabPro S for $450 4GB/128GB would be better.

I have the samsung multiport adapter. It's crap. I bought this one and it's better, and has an extra USB port: https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B07B46NSG4/ref=ppx_od_d…

tabpro s is a fine machine. one day I took it out of my backpack, and the screen was cracked. Samsung refused to fix it on warranty, but good that I happen to have AMEX purchase insurance, and it happened within 90 days since purchase, so I was only $50 out of pocket, and sold it while it was almost new. too fragile. but man, that screen. I am looking forward to the day when all laptops get OLED displays.

      • Telstra tried to avoid fixing my Sony screen… Broke overnight sitting on a coffee table. Finally fixed it as a goodwill gesture. Found out two years later there were battery expansion issues causing then and they had just lied…

I can attest to you the Galaxy Book 1 is a very good piece of work and would consider a snapdragon based for Book 2 as a very bad decision on Samsung behalf.

If you can get the 256gb 8gb version, get it because although the 128gb 4gb was good enough, you will see marked improvement with the 256gb.

I use this device almost daily and part of my everyday work and planning as well as entertainment.

SS have some great proper 2-1 laptops in other countries but not for AUS, why?

    • -1

      Is SS really an abbreviation….

      • -1

YES, seeing Commodore no longer share it

          Don't you mean HC rollseyes

  • Don't do it! My 4 year old Sony xperia 5 (4?) With keyboard is great and waterproof! Pick one up for a fraction of that. Or spend half that on a good win laptop. Geez don't touch it. $2k? Run, don't walk away.

  • So the new set of Andriod phones have 6/8/12gb of ram but they think 4 is enough to run this?

If you have a Westpac bank account you can get the 256GB/8GB RAM version for $1149.50 (128GB/4GB(?) RAM for $999.95).
