  • Been looking at e-bike for a bit now. Can anyone vouch for this brand, build and price?

  • If you don't mind putting it together yourself em3ev have the best components around

  • Can you provide some details of the power source please OP? For example, does it have a brushless motor?

  • this bike sounds like a trail bike

It looks like it’s got a rear hub motor. For $1599 I’d be looking for something with a mid-drive, even if that means buying a cheaper non-e frame with components, and then a mid-drive assembly, motor, and battery from eBay and then getting a bike mechanic to put it all together.

It’s not the hub motors are inherently bad, though the hub means one must always use the rear wheel, regardless of whether it deteriorates, or becomes damaged, at which point the expense of the e-bike is somewhat unjustified, spare for the battery, which makes up a large component of price.

I’m also not necessarily convinced that hub motor spokes are necessarily rated for the increased tension, and stress imposed, but of course it may vary between manufacturer.

That’s just my thoughts, happy to be proven wrong as hub e-bikes are usually cheaper than mid-drive arrangements.

I bought this bike a bit over a month ago and am quite happy with the purchase. I had a few issues with delivery, these were caused by the courier company and Leon cycles chased them up until they delivered. My only real complaint is that it is restricted to 25km/h and I have not been able to remove this restriction for use on private property. The codes available for overseas models and the code provided by the seller when asked do not work for removing the restrictions.

    • did you have to assemble the bike yourself? So are they still looking into that code for you?
      What price did you paid?
