iPhone - XR 256GB $99/M | XS 256GB $119/M | XS Max 256GB $123/M - 80GB Data + Unlimited Calls/SMS with Telstra @ JB Hi-Fi

120

Seems to be a good deal on paper compared to the outright costs of the phone and the plan which goes for usually $65 per month totalling $1560 over 24 months with a max phone credit of $500.

Instore only.

  • Iphone XR 256GB - $99 per month | Min Cost over 24 months $2376 | RRP Cost $1479 | Monthly plan cost after deducting phone cost $37.38

  • Iphone XS 256GB - $119 per month | Min Cost over 24 months $2856 | RRP Cost $1879 | Monthly plan cost after deducting phone cost $40.71

  • Iphone XS Max 256GB - $123 per month | Min Cost over 24 months $2952 | RRP Cost $2049 | Monthly plan cost after deducting phone cost $37.63

Credit to "kururii" for reworking this for me in a different way.

No International Calls included

Still too expensive IMO. Maybe good for someone who is after the phones with Telstra network and 80GB of data.

  • hi,

could you please kindly explain where you derive this calculation from?

    Iphone XS 256GB - $119 per month | Min Cost over 24 months $2856 | RRP Cost $1879 | Phone cost $1296

    Thanks..

Min cost over 24 months for the phone plan $2856 - Cost of the plan over 24 months with the same inclusions at $65 per month which is $1560 = $1296

Tried to do the right thing by highlighting the value, only to be negged! So removed it :) Thanks JV

For me, my biggest problem is with JB's $65 Plan. If you chew through 50GB or more data a month, then fair enough. Otherwise in today's climate when you look around OzBargain with offers from Kogan, Optus, ALDI, Woollies, Boost etc, how much would you really want to spend just on your phone plans? Personally I don't make international calls, but with JB you don't even get that option.

So for me I would prefer to spend at most $50 a month on phone plans, unless it offered more than just your typical unlimited local calls and txt, say around 30GB data. At $49 a month over 24 months, that's $1,176. The XR quoted has an RRP of $1,479, so that's still 20% off. If you priced JB's plan at its lower $45 version, that would make the phone cost at $54 a month over 24 months, or $1,296, which would still make it a 12% discount.

So I think it's not bad deal for someone who wanted specifically the 256GB XR. And didn't mind stuck on a 24-month contract.

You be managed to make a simple post about a phone deal full of bloated unnecessary and seemingly fudged details. I applaud you for giving Apple users what they crave and are use to.

    • Simply highlighting the value for iphone users. But I guess that doesn't matter for Apple fans :)

      Android fanboy here :)

Just like how the Apple home page advertises the XR

Get iPhone XR from A$849 when you trade in your iPhone 7 Plus.*

Another way to word this deal:

        • Iphone XR 256GB - $99 per month | Min Cost over 24 months $2376 | RRP Cost $1479 | Monthly plan cost after deducting phone cost $37.38

        • Iphone XS 256GB - $119 per month | Min Cost over 24 months $2856 | RRP Cost $1879 | Monthly plan cost after deducting phone cost $40.71

        • Iphone XS Max 256GB - $123 per month | Min Cost over 24 months $2952 | RRP Cost $2049 | Monthly plan cost after deducting phone cost $37.63

Thanks OP for doing the hardwork.

        • Thats what I should have done to start off. :)

        • Updated the post with your numbers mate and credited you. Thanks

        • That assumes you can only get the iPhones at RRP…

  • Does this include the telstra air?

  • Optus have cheaper plans!

    • They most certainly do!

I myself have posted an XR deal with 100GB of data which comes to $87 with Harvey Norman port in discount. Bear in mind, that is only for existing Optus customers on an additional service. Without HN discount, it is $94 per month

This is a good plan for Telstra network with 80GB of data for the exact same phone. I am sure $5 extra is good enough for a better network.

      • I think "better network" is no longer a given, and it depends on total coverage, or coverage depending on the customer's most frequent locations. For me, in plenty of places where I literally work and live, Telstra is actually worse than Optus (Inner city Sydney). I'm slightly annoyed every time I get quoted this Telstra is a better network horseshit. I am with Telstra, but not because they have a "better network". Better in some, worse in others.

    Still too expensive IMO

So why did you post this as a Bargain ?

    • +2

ay ay ay ay JV! Are you wanting to see how many negs you get every day??

Just because I find it too expensive doesn't mean that this is not a bargain! Compared to buying the phone outright or a comparable plan, this is cheaper! Hence the bargain.

Some of the stuff that gets posted here is expensive for my taste, but I still upvote them if I see it as a genuine bargain.

Read the posting rules re posting deals. Also stick to discussing the deal rather than attacking other OzBargain members.

        • +7

What posting rules in there have I breached?

and what attack? lol. I don't remember calling you names, swearing at you or anything along those lines. If so, the MODS can definitely review what I have posted. Feel free to report me and lets see what they think.

Who cares about the deal but this thread is far more interesting!

Everyday is the same with JV :P

        Jv you've done it again

  • Looking to get an iPhone XS Max 64/128GB. Any deals out there that include international calls.. say 1000 minutes.. don't need a lot of DATA. 15GB is more than enough

  • hi guys anyone know when will this deal end? Thanks

    • still on. Just picked up one today.

      • nice. may pick one up end of this year. decided to hold off with my current phone to save up. realised I feel more like true ozbargainer to actually not buying things that posted on ozbargain now lol
