Apple would price match it?
Apple price matches up to 5 or 10% max from their price only I think.
was 1500 @costco during BF. I PB @OW for 1425. At this point, i would wait for the anticipated new m4 MBA.
Was that $1500 you’re referring to for 256GB? Couldn’t find any deal of that price in ozb history for 512GB.
You can certainly consider waiting for the M4 but the launch price is usually around 2k for the 512GB models, if not more.
Or you can go the ozbargain way. Buy now, think and return later. M4 will likely be launched early March so it’ll be within the return period.Ahh yes. My bad. Thanks for correcting. It was for 256 GB.
MBP and Mini have moved to 16Gb standard for base models though with the M4, which could make the 16/512 model not such a significant upgrade from stock (I mean, it never should be, with a 256Gb SSD being worth like $25, but here we are).
15” is where it’s at.
The 15" screen is the one I'm waiting for a good deal on
What I wouldn't give for an extra few inches
That's what she said.
Wild that people aren’t waiting for the M4.
Performance would not be even noticed for 99% of users
Cool. But performance isn't the only thing to consider. eg. M4 is likely to get additonal year of software updates.
Question is whether paying a few hundred extra would be worth the one year of updates.
@Trishool: For someone like me who wouldn’t touch a device no longer receiving security updates, yes, few hundred dollars is worth it.
Performance would not be even noticed for 99% of users between 2025 model to 2024 model.

Performance would not be even noticed for 99% of users between 2022 model to 2021 model.sure….
Because there's always going to be another Macbook around the corner. My M1 Pro shows no signs of slowing down and I highly doubt an M3 Chip will show signs for a very long time too. Regarding software updates, they do not introduce new features every MacOS release for previous models to avoid shadowing newer releases.
There is no discernible difference between the M3 and M4 to the human eye.
Last time I checked the human can tell how many monitors are working.
The M4 MBA is rumoured to support dual monitors with the laptop open. That alone is worth waiting for to confirm.
We're down to days/weeks. Just wait.
I'd probably wait too and then purchase the M3 cheaper.
having 2 external monitors (and Macbook closed) is fine. A little awkward space wise to have both 13inch screen + 2 x 27 inch monitors.
But if that's important to you, then go M4.
Laptop makes a good dedicated IM or Spotify screen.
Also means you can use the webcam on the laptop.
Why its showing $1849 now on costco website ,is this deal expired?
Damn, thought this was too good to be true. Should have jumped on it immediately, but was too busy wondering how to get discounted GCs given there aren't anu UGC promos currently.
It's only a $200 saving compared to the AOC Apple store. Wouldn't call that too good to be true for a device about to be replaced.
Very meh deal to be honest.
Depends on your view. Price has already been cut ahead of the M4 launch, so unlikely to see much more of a drop given M3 will remain for sale. Saving is actually $275 after OW pricebeat, which is material in my world. I need to buy one for my kid before uni starts, so can't wait for M4 launch regardless. All up, great deal from my perspective.
Price wasn't cut. 16GB just became the new base (as it should have been for a long time).
Crappppp mised it!
Fortunately didn't drop too much from when I purchased.
In November I got a M3 16gb 256GB for $1,396.48 at Officeworks Price Beat Costco. Just after they made 16gb ram standard.
I couldn't wait for the M4.
These days with cloud and 1TB with Office 365 (free for students), I didn't feel the need to pay the exorbitant extra for 512GB storage
1TB with Office 365 (free for students)
what if you are not
Stump up the extra $300 for extra storage, start deleting files or transfer large/unused files to your network or USB drive.
[Whoops - this was supposed to be a reply to the comment that 256GB is enough with cloud storage]
sadly the 256 GB drive is slower than the 512GB (its a design issue)…. so the M1 also had this issue where there 512GB was worth the upgrade - not for space, but for the annoying read/write
I am still happy with my M1 air HDD, but the 8GB ram has really run its course… so this is a great deal…. Best rumored upgrade to the M4 Air is the dual screen fix…
