I'd be curious to know what happened to the packaging. The 580s were used extensively in mining operations and for these guys to sell them without the original box definitely raises plenty of suspicions on my part.

    • +2

      OEM bro

never came with box in the first place to begin with

      just like TechFast's

      • Fair call. Any idea if these were destined for builds that never made it or what?

        • +3

System builders buy OEM cards in bulk at cheaper price than individual retail box edition for their PC build sales.

They usually came in a cardbox with multiple cards inside only foam packed in anti-static bags - Much like OEM HDD / hard disks drives.

I would hazard a guess it's against distributor's policy for system builder to sell OEM card as standalone sales but somehow FTC decided to do it anyway. Or maybe they have their own agreement, i don't know.

      • There is no such thing as OEM card for this model.

    • I know Gigabyte had a version of this card designed for miners (no backplate and a tweaked BIOS), and they ended up with a bunch of unsellable stock after the mining crash.

They factory re-flashed them to the original BIOS and are now selling them (new) as the RX580 Gaming MI, with a 3 month warranty (obviously they can't do that in Australia). These OEM cards may be from similar origin.

Edit: Other posts pretty much confirm this, Gigabyte only gives a 3 month warranty on this card but the reseller will honour the 2 years stated.

  • What's the warranty?

    • +4

      Line No.# 6

    • But 100% NEW with 2 Years Warranty.

      • +4

Gigabyte normally give 3 years warranty with their cards so why 2 with these?

  • is this good enough for 2k gaming?

    • +4

the 8gb vram does helps in 1440p but definitely not at max/ultra settings for top titles due to lacking in gpu raw power.

    • Depends on the game. Good for most games other than triple-A titles. Those can be playable on low-medium settings though. Have a look at the benchmarks to get a better idea.

  • +2

Bought this before from techmall, the OEM version is just the barebones card with no backplate wrap in anti static bag and that's it

  • Why 2 years warranty instead of the normal 3 years?

  • It's a good price for a new card buy for anyone buying one, please keep in-mind that this particular Gigabyte model is by far the hottest/noisiest RX580 I've owned.

The best in terms of noise & temperature was the Sapphire SE models (2x 100MM fans), followed by the Asus Strix RX580 TOP (which I also purchased after seeing an MSY deal here last year).

  • How's it compare to 570/8GB ?

    • +1

generally, if you game at 1080p@60fps then not much diff / not worth the upgrade.

      anything higher, worth considering.

  • This looks like a specific mining card, which might mean that it doesn't have any outputs, can anyone confirm this particular model does have display outputs?

    • +3

This looks like a specific mining card, which might mean that it doesn't have any outputs

      No

can anyone confirm this particular model does have display outputs?

      Yes

      Source

      See listing

      • Couldn't find it on that page, but thanks seriously good price.

  • +2

Was just looking at this listing and on the first page of the Gigabyte description it says 3 months warranty even though they say 2 years. Not sure which is true :S

    • No idea too. Can't comment on that but AFAIK, OEM stuffs have to go back to vendor/system builder for warranty. Manufacturer won't deal with end-user for OEM goods.

      • +1

Msged them to confirm that 3 months is manufacturer but they will cover for 2 years directly. thanks for the post, ended up getting this.

It now says sold out, too slow

    • Bugger .

their website has it listed as in stock at $215 delivered, bought 1 hope it gets fullfilled, should be a good upgrade from my old gtx 560ti lol

    • oooh boy… now i feel bad for posting their ebay deal

is it ok if update this deal ? (don't want to ruin your chances of getting the card if you don't feels like it)

    • Just ordered from their website with only $215 inc shipping, thank you whoisthatguy!

  • Have a RoG Strix TOP OC 8GB RX580 and that rips it for 1080P gaming. Runs every game butter smooth at 1080p. Highly recommend that card Vs this if you missed out.

  • +1

Guys, it's still in stock if you go to their website and order from there.
Just ordered one, only $215 - inc shipping, thank you whoisthatguy!

    • So annoying!
      Ordered in Monday night.
Wednesday morning, I called: they said "don't worry, we're just having too many orders…"
Saturday, called them again, said accepted too many ordera and ran out of stocks.

      Waiting for refund now.

  • These have terrible fans on them. I've had to RMA about 4 of them as the fan bearings fail easily.

  • My order just arrived.
RX570 is clearly used. Some scratches but mainly there is a nice circular mark on the mounting bracket where the screw has been used to secure it to a case.

Written to them, but expecting to lodge a dispute with Ebay.
