if it on/off loops do you pay the cost of return postage?

    • -2

The warranty is a back to base warranty so you would have to send it back if you need to claim warranty for any reason :)

      From here: https://www.accc.gov.au/consumers/consumer-rights-guarantees…

      Returning the product
You are entitled to return a product if you believe that there is a problem. You are generally responsible for returning the product if it can be posted or easily returned. You are entitled to recover reasonable postage or transportation costs from the business if the product is confirmed to have a problem, so keep your receipts.

When a product is too large, too heavy or too difficult to remove, the business is responsible for paying the shipping costs or collecting the product within a reasonable time of being notified of the problem. Examples include:

      a wide screen TV
      a bed
an extension ladder stuck in the extended position
a product that has been subsequently installed, like a stove or a dishwasher.
You do not have to return products in the original packaging in order to get a refund.

If the product is found not to have a problem, you may be required to pay the transport or inspection costs. An estimate of these costs should be provided to you before the product is collected, and the costs must not be inflated in an attempt to deter you from pursuing your claims.

Still waiting reply on this or RIO is exempted from ACCC for some reason?

  • Does it support ARC?

  • -1

    No HDMI = No ARC

  • Based on your own link, last sold was $499

    • It was on sale back in September for $499, however the price we had it at last was $549 before dropping it today :)

  • Great price!!! Thanks OP. Seriously good unit. Do you have any in white?

    • We only have them available in black unfortunately!

  • Will this turn off and on with the TV, and will the TV do the volume as well if I use the digital output?

    • +1

      Nope

      • Well that's a deal-breaker.

        • Sounds like you mean it

          • @Lps: And how does that make you feel?

Of course I mean it. Having to stuff around with a second remote, or even a programmable one - not worth the trouble. That's why HDMI-CEC has been around for 10+ yrs.

    • With my Panasonic TV the Canton base (I have the DM50 model) can learn any remote so the Canton switches on with the tv but it won't switch off with the TV. It does auto-switch itself off after some idle time (might be 30 mins I've never timed it).

It also certainly learns the Panasonic remote volume control. You can also program other buttons on your remote to do things on the Canton. Ie I have programmed my blue Panasonic remote button to cycle through the sources (Aux/TV/blueooth etc) and the yellow button for switching surround and standard speaker mode (I find standard mode is better for sports commentary, spoken word etc.
