Don't have much experience with the Alpha series but can recommend Metabox brand.

Great price. Would recommend selecting 16GB of Ram for $69 more.
You'll also want extra storage, theres quite a few options for both slotsHow much does this weigh? Can't find anything on their site

37.8cm (w) x 26.7 cm (d) x 2.99 cm (h)Thanks mate! A bit heavy for me. Someone posted an Australian start up brand that had similar specs and was about 1.8kg the other day…can't find the link anywhere though, it was in the comments not its own deal so tricky to find!
Too heavy indeed. Maybe this one: https://www.aftershockpc.com.au/welcome/Productinner/apex15-…
Australian, somewhat. I believe they started in Singapore. You may be referring to a different company of course.
@Bargain Seeker: Cheers mate, that is the one I meant. Not sure why I thought they were Australian…no matter. Pretty light for the specs. Not quite in the sweet spot for me price wise anyway so will wait. Should probably just get the battery replaced on my Xiaomi Mi Air but don't seem to be getting around to that
good deal. but note windows is an extra $155!
theres also a 1060 version on sale too but IMO 1050ti is better value at the price points if you dont plan on getting the 144hz screen.
I originally intended to run Ubuntu on the Metabox I purchased a few years ago. I later decided to install Windows and found legit Windows 10 Pro keys on eBay from scrap machines. I think it cost about $15. Haven't had an issue. Not sure if it's legal, but there still seem to be plenty available on eBay..
iv owned a Metabox in the past, Metabox Alpha N850HJ
Put in my own SSD, Purchased my Own 144hz panel to put in there and was very happy with the overall quality
Not as good as something as alienware but is good for the price.Working on it is extremely easy, remove the bottom cover and you are in to everything, ram, hdd,sdd,m.2,cpu cooler, fan ect
Delivery of the laptop was in good speed.
I did sell my Alpha N850HJ for a Cheap Alienware 13 (a fan of the smaller size)
Sooo tempted.
Been looking for a 1050ti laptop.
With 16gb (8gbx2) and 512gb plextor SSD upgrade brings total to $1317.00 - still a lot cheaper than anything else with similar specs!
