  • Allphones had an extra 8% that added on top of the 20% for me when I looked at the Galaxy Tab S4 4G 64GB - brought it down to around $815 delivered (would have been $800 flat with ebay plus). Don't really need a tablet but had to hold myself back at that price. Was only one left and not sure if the 8% is still applying but a good deal to be had for someone.

    • They removed the 8% off at checkout.

      • Yeah I had it still showing at checkout. Didn't go ahead with it obviously so can't confirm it would work but anyway, still substantially cheaper than JB hifi etc

    • I bought an iPad from them and got 28% off. $799 for a 128GB WiFi/Celular 2018 6th Gen iPad minus 8% ($63.92) then minus 20% ($147.02) bringing it down to $588.06.

Who sells Bed frame among these sellers?!

  • -1

Any of these sellers sell Logitech Ultimate Ears 3 if anyone know?

  • +2

    Jacky is back I see

Checked multiple items and they are all above RRP by 20%.

  • Anyone bought generic bath/shower parts from eBay before? They don't look price jacked but not sure if this one of those product areas that it's better to stick to stuff from say Bunnings.

  • +1

    Yeah nah… Pass

If anyone's interested in optics, there are actually some pretty decent deals to be had at DCXPERT on the Minox HG and BL series of binoculars. For astronomy and hunting buffs, the 8x56 HG ($1039.20) and 8x56 BL ($799.20) in particular represent great value. In Europe, these retail at around euros 1150 & 800 respectively.

  • The price raises on the two things I've been watching have been insane.

You can see by their actions that the ACCC exists to help large business rip everyone off as much as possible so expect their response to be suing MSY again. MSY being a smaller business that always has competitive prices.

Lol eBay promos are sooo 2018. Long Live Amazon!

    • I find Amazon's search criteria hard to navigate, especially no filter for Global or Australia only!

WIsh they just fix that little bit up…

      • Good thing we have hardcore OzB members :)

  • Google Home Hub is 167.2 after discount - not a bad price.

Purchased g pro wireless yesterday at 5% off, luckily it's the same price today with 20% off.

  • TGG jacked prices 17% on Dyson AM09 fans, from $529 to $619, while claiming to have 20% off.

    Price history here: https://offer.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewBidsLogin&ite…

Reported this fraud to the ACCC, accc-report:210458.

    • TGG?

      • -2

oh shit i reported the wrong business. There was a huge TGG advertisement banner so I thought it was TGG. The seller is probably this https://abr.business.gov.au/ABN/View/19152888689

I've sent another report to tell them about my mistake, since their automatic response to receive reports is a do-not-reply e-mail. sorry TGG!

The price was changed 21 days ago, how do you think it was price jacked for this sale?

There have been no recent price revisions close to this sale. Just because an item previously sold for cheaper doesn't mean it was jacked for this sale.

      • you're right, that's an oversight on my part. but on further investigation, they were also targeted in the previous 20% off (PASSIONATE) https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/435709, and the date matches. they probably just never bothered to drop the price knowing there's another one coming up, or they did drop the price for a week but nobody bought during that period.

Blatant price jacking by a1_electrictoys. You'll notice the prices jump with both eBay's PASSIONATE (1 - 10 Feb) and the current PUPGRADE sale:

This is their reply after querying them:

we are sorry to inform you that due to the promo involved cost, there is no way for us to maintain the same price in order to participate the sale. you are more than welcome to wait until the sale finishes so the price will be adjusted. thank you and all the best.

    • At least they are honest about their price jacking.
They seem to be putting the prices up 10% (their half of the 20% off "sale") & still giving customers 10% off overall.
Other sellers put their prices up 20% plus to totally gauge customers.
I'm not excusing a1_electrictoys, just saying that there are worse, more disingenuous sellers out there.

      • Either way it's dishonest. I'll be sure to block on my eBay to avoid any future purchases :)

    • Can anyone explain what cost is involved to the seller to take part in these promos?
I was under the impression it was eBay's responsibility.
Any item I've purchased during sale periods, the seller's invoice will show their original price before the discount.

      • It's not official, but when I had a quick discussion about eBay Plus with one of the OZBers who happened to work for a top rated seller, I asked him about these promotions. The impression I've got is that those 10% discounts are completely funded by eBay, but these 20% ones are likely to be funded 50 / 50 by eBay and the sellers. The store he worked for normally weren't in these 20% ones.

Again, not official answer, but could explain why we are seeing some price jacking from them.

    • +1

I agree with you 100%. They are making shoppers buy things 10% off but claiming 20% off and this is misleading their customers. If the store can't afford to give 10% off they simply shouldn't participate to the eBay deal. They are making a profit by false advertisements. Shame on all price jacking eBay stores.

    • Then don't take part in this promo, waste of time sellers

  • Everyone unhappy with the price jacking - Why not go to eBay Australia's Facebook page and slap it on their wall where everyone can see it? - Here ya go: https://www.facebook.com/pg/eBay.com.au/community/?ref=page_…

Look forward to seeing everyone's response.

  • I wonder why hasn't anyone posted about the deal on iPad pro 2018 11" 64gb model on Mediaform computer. With the promo code the price was brought from 1364.76 down to 1093.41. That's a great deal isn't it? Am I not seeing it correctly? Can someone please shed some light on me?

This has been going on for years, and the ACCC has done nothing.

Perhaps a way to actually get it fixed is for a bunch of OzB humans to instead:
    1. email the head Aust eBay lawyer Stacey Taylor;
    2. tell her that you consider the conduct is a plain contravention of the CCA and ACL;
    3. note that if you are correct in that assessment, but eBay does nothing about it, and eBay is subsequently busted for it, it will potentially ruin her career; and
    4. cc the ACCC.

That might get her moving aiiiiiiiiii

  • Any good deals for dell or Lenovo laptop after discount?

  • Ummmm where's the search link to browse ALL stores?

  • Neg due to price jack and no deal

Looking for LG 32UD99-W, premium prices on google found these around $1200 - $1239

    On these sales,

    Revcom have it for $1494

and for the drum role Mediaform Computer Supplies have these for a laughable $1774.17

    What a joke, no deal….

…. so I had the send the seller a message via eBay, you know being respectful, asking "Can I ask why the price of this item is $1774.17 when Scorptec sell the same item for $1239?"

    • -1

      google found these around $1200 - $1239
      Revcom have it for $1494

$1195.20 from Revcom with discount is cheaper than your google prices.
So this sale has a cheaper price.

      • -2

Wow saving of a whole $5… is this a deal? Those are premium prices I quoted

        Edit $4.80 saving

  • Crappy Jacky.

  • I just bought 64gb micro SD extreme Pro for $35.14, if anyone is interested it was from apusauction.

Also bought Seagate FireCuda 2.5 2TB HDD ST2000LX001 for $128 from futuonline.

Needed to upgrade ps4 hdd and need a card for gopro :)

Went through Qantas for pts cause no cashback.

I second the price Jack. These sort of deals are making fool out of ourselves.
If you do not do the diligent research, you are fooled easily. These are scam.

I having been wanting to buy Amazfit bip which I can get it around $82 elsewhere and even on ebay I could get for less than $100. With these new "deals" , one of the seller's price for the device is $154, which is way expensive even if you do the 20% off, that comes down to whooping $123.2, how the hell is this "A DEAL"? SCAMMERS!!!!

  • Was hoping Certified Tech Direct would be included. :(

  • If I hear someone mention Jack again, I'm gonna puke. 😠

  • Yea be careful, this isnt much of a deal at all, especially looking at the laptops.

I got the DELL xps 15 last week for 2300, saw this and saw that DELL was now on board. The same laptop with the 20% discount came to……2300….so I would save nothing with this deal.

This is also consistent for other laptops, also not they are selling older models of laptops and hardware, so be careful.

Like the XPS with 7 series processors, they look cheap but they are significantly older technology.

  • Sellers are starting to use a new tactic to price jack without it showing in the price history. For example, before the sale this Futu Online SSD had a 10% discount applied at checkout but it got removed when the sale started. eBay Samsung SSD

So the items appear in price history at their jacked prices.

    • For example, before the sale this Futu Online SSD had a 10% discount applied at checkout but it got removed when the sale started. eBay Samsung SSD(ebay.com.au)

Futu never have 10% off, they always go in the 20% store specific ones. Are you sure that 10% off wasn't the ebay storewide sale?

      • It was an item specific discount that was advertised in the subtitle. The listing price was $239, but there was a 10% discount automatically applied at checkout which stacked with the 5% sitewide discount. Not complaining about the $190 price, but these practices are pretty dodgy.

        • They've had that forever, when there isn't a 20% sale running, they instead do 10% off storewide. Not a new tactic. Techmall do the same thing and forgot to take the 10% off when this sale started for about an hour.

  • appliances online never sign up anymore

  • Is the code working still? I've tried to buy some Samsung EVO Plus micro SD's and also some Ironwolf HDD's and its saying the code can't be applied.
