Australian Grown Coffee - Byron Beans - free ship 200g : $8.70 & 1 kg : $27.95

50

I cannot comment of the quality of the beans, as I just put my order in (found their site today).

Still Australian made attracts me, so I figured it was worth a go.

Site is advertising "free shipping" for a "limited time"

I have no idea how long that will be.

200g of beans is $8.90 delivered, 1 kilo is $27.95 delivered

My coffee supplier is $8 for 250g in shop (non Australian) - so it seems a fairly good offer.

Site interface is a little clunky, it looks like if the stock is out then you will not be able to use checkout - although it does not report that to you but just keeps reloading the shopping cart.

If you delete the right item - then it will go through (I could not order the light roast for example).

But I ordered 2 x 200 grams (dark and medium combo), and the order went through fine.

And if you are going to order as a guest be sure to get your e-mail right, it does not load a receipt after the order for printing, but e-mails you instead.

Still with all those disclaimers taken care of this looks like a pretty good deal for local coffee.

Apparently Queensland grows better, but I guess I will see!

  • I'd be curious to know as to when these guys roast their beans - I don't see it mentioned on the site anywhere.

A vital thing I look for when buying coffee beans is "roast to order" - this way I know it's the freshest possible. Anything else and you may as well purchase from the grocery store.

    • Hi fattyboombatty, Just replying to your post. You are correct, a vital thing is Roast to Order. As mentioned on the site, and the roasting is done regularly to fill orders from our customers. Depending on these orders we roast every couple of days at our own property. As with a lot of people, we are passionate about freshness, as this is one of the secrets to that perfect cup. Enjoy.

  • on main page

    "Welcome to Byron Beans
Here at Byron Beans we roast our home grown coffee to order so you can be sure your coffee will arrive FRESH - within days of roasting and at its best for drinking"

at least thats what they say!

    • Hi Natt, Just a quick comment. Yes we do "roast to order" at our own property. Obviously this is a continuous process to maintain the integrity of the roasted product, and also our reputation. Hope you give it a go !!
      Cheers. Dezzie. Byron Beans.

      • Dezzie

        you just joined ozbargain? cool!

Any idea how long the free ship offer is for?

If you feel inclined you may want to check into why I could not order the light roast, just in case its a checkout gremlin :)

        • Hi Natt, I am told the light roast problem was a computer/web glitch which has been fixed. The free shipping started last week and I believe will be on for about a month.
          Cheers Dezzie

  • i was going to order from this site, but stopped when i saw the checkout page for credit card details was not a secure one.

  • seemed secure to me

    its https://

and there is a padlock which has all the right info at the end of the address bar

    • hmmmmm….not seeing that here. tried both firefox and safari on mac.

      • I was using IE when I checked - that help?

Although it looks like I was using firefox when I ordered

  • Placed an order for 200g of the medium combo. Looking forward to trying some Aussie beans :)

  • well I got the beans yesterday, but it was too late in the day for caffeine

tried the "light" beans this morning

way too weak for my tastes, but nothing wrong with the coffee

I'll report back more when I try the dark roast

    • thumbs up for the darker roast, a bit smoother than my normal coffee.

I am guessing thats because its fresher!
