If you haven't got a suitable charger for Eneloops then this is a good idea. FWIW, I bought an off-brand battery pack + cable from Target for only $14.95 and it's been great, I get many hours of play out of a single charge and when it runs low I just plug in the USB cable and carry on.
Says it in the product name. You can play and charge it at the same time.
Dont need to replace a battery ever again assuming it doesn't just die which is totally possible.
My cable became faulty after about a year (worked when bending it though)
The lights on mine don't light up all the time when plugged in but it still charges.
I'd rather just plug it in after I'm done rather than stuffing around opening the battery door and recharging AAs.
Yeh same, I'm too lazy to keep having to swap them out and charge batteries separately.
I’ve still got the $1 packs of the dicksmith clearance batteries I bought 2 years before they shut down.(8pack) otherwise I’d buy eneloops. Yet to buy some :( sadness overwhelms me every time someone posts a deal on them. I just can’t justify to buy when I have so many disposables
LADDDDDDDAAAA!!!
I find these last much longer thaneneloops or other types of rechargeables
Don't bother if you're like me and don't use your Xbox for gaming. Had the same batteries in my controller for a year and they came with them. Obviously worth a thought if you're using them heavily.
Wonder if this works with ultimate controller
If you mean the Elite controller then yes it does.
yes thats the one.
Yep definitely works, I use this in my elite controller
It recharges Eneloops too when you plug in the USB cable.
I've always wondered how these "charge" kits work… presumably the charge circuity is actually already built into every controller, yeah?
Only microsoft packs and compatible 3rd party ones are charged by the controller. There's a special set of contacts inside the battery compartment for this.

These are built in on PS3/PS4 controllers.
And what are you adding to this discussion? Plus, PS4 controllers last 2 seconds with their internal batteries compared to this rechargeable pack.
I'd rather a controller be able to last a long time then be stuck with one with a bad battery life.
What I'm saying is, it sucks to have to pay $20-30 for what Nintendo and Sony offer out of the box.
"Play and charge" means you charge while you play. Something you can't do with AAs. How long it lasts without charging is a completely different topic and not the purpose of this product.
I get what he's saying but don't agree with the wording. My PS4 controller battery life lasts around 6 hours max but there's no way to improve it like using AA or a replaceable pack. It doesn't help sony was stingy with the cable length but if it were longer I'd have a messy cable that's a trip hazard.
I've been playing xbox for 7+ years as a 8+hr per day player, I'm usually close enough to just plug in my controller as I'm playing. I've bought maybe 3 of these in that 7+ years. Well worth the money in my opinion. "Your controller batteries are low", just plug in a micro USB chord until I finish playing. Simples.
8+hr per day
Geez are you a bug tester or something?
+1 Forget the fact that someone has time to play 8 hours a day, how can one play that long in a day and not get bored to insanity?
Depends on the game
Destiny when it first come out was amazing. I rarely get 8+ hours per day now but if you have a good group of mates from across Aus, anything is possible with time differences
@Jazza80Four: Ah I see. Unfortunately my internet pretty much prohibits me from playing MP games most of the time. I sometimes wake up early for school and get an hour of gameplay in at most, but that's pretty much it. All my mates play during the day so I can't play with them which sucks. Glad to hear you have had so much fun with games, it's still to this day an underrated form of entertainment.
@Ostrk: Mate I'm 34 years old and work shift work with a minimum of 10hrs away from home due to travel and I still game with my online friends daily or at least chat with them. It's a great platform for helping people also. I've met most of the people I play online with and we've become more like family than anything. Stick with it and it you ever feel alone, just reach out to strangers. It sounds weird but it helps.
@Jazza80Four: I wish I could do all of that. I have the time but it's just my internet connection that prevents me from doing so. I'll try and invest into gaming once I move to my own place but that's still a few years from now.
Ok, so I’ve recently bought an Xbox One X and yet to change the batteries.
I have a stack of the LAADA Ikea rechargeables. Do I need this still?
I still don’t quite get what these are for. Is it just a battery pack that you can recharge via USB as opposed to swapping out with AA’s?
Yes.
Yeh you've basically hit the nail on the head… It's a battery pack which you pop into the controller and anytime you need to charge just plug the USB into the Xbox and the other end to the controller.
Essentially allows you to keep playing without the need to stop and change batteries. I think it is a handy accessory.
I'm using one now but can't post a pic. I think they're vital to any xbox gaming station.
This is back in stock
Thanks! I've removed the expiry on the post.
Or just buy 8 eneloops? Never saw the reason for this.
