  • Price: $269.99 + $15.01 Shipping & Import Fees Deposit

Is there a trick to this that you didn't put in the post?

    • I'm seeing it as $249 & Free Delivery

EDIT: Appears as $269.99 + $15.01 through US site which was the original link

    • I've updated the post with the correct URL.

      • Thanks Mod. I'm on my bus to work and can't copy and paste properly.

Should be this link, BTW can I take out the drive to use?

You can, but most likely a slow crappy drive that will die if used for more intensive use than an external hard drive would get.

      • Depends on what drive inside.

Remember years ago ozbargainer found a WD 3TB Red drive inside and I have also bought one from JB.

        • +3

          Previous post said this
"Barracuda Pro inside, that is a helium 7200RPM drive with 256MB Cache, Not SMR Drive"

      • +1

The only 10TB drive they have is the top end helium filled variety, and that is what you get in these. The Barracuda Pro raw drive retails in Australia for $550.

This is an awesome price. I spent three months watching to grab one for $360.

    • +1

Yeah the drive is shuckable. Can't find any info about which drive is inside. The 8TB version has the awful Archive ones but I don't think they made Archives any bigger than 8, maybe they did only for internal use like these… I wouldn't want to bet that every one of these drives have Barracuda Pro. Seen it from Seagate in the past that it's usually a mish mash of drives throughout the product line.

    • +1

I've shucked quite a few of these that I price beat from my local Officeworks - they're all totally fine, 256MB cache, unsure on shingled though. I'll double check the PN.

  • +1

    possibly contains a 10tb Barracuda pro 7200rpm

sorry, my laptop went all funny there!!

    • Lol

  • and they're gone :p

  • Damn missed out , good price

  • Damn that was a good price, I missed out. This has a decent HDD in it too I believe.

    • 10tb Seagate barracuda pro

    • Me too, I asked too much … XD

  • Damn, missed it.

    • Me too. Got to wonder where they come from and what the benefit is of selling them so cheap.

    • Switch to where?

    • -1

      Switch to what?

      • -6

'Bait and switch is a sales tactic that tricks consumers into buying something … The idea behind the tactic is to do whatever it takes to get people into the store.'

negs for reality are normal here which is why bargain posts are becoming so rare here….

    • switch to whom?

      • Nintendo

        • +2

what are you on about my dude

nintendo does not sell hard drives

of course i'm going to go into your store if you are selling a product for less than half normal retail around here.

we're negging you because your coned out rambling helps nobody, go water your eneloops champ

          • @runean: I think ozbargain should start a class action lawsuit against Nintendo!

    • How was any of this a bait and switch?

    • +2

Amazon AU defaults to the next cheapest option, once stock has been exhausted.

  • I'm reckoning price error.

    • +2

Has dropped to $244 and $195.20 in the past from Amazon AU.

    • +3

Nope. It has been even cheaper in the past.

      • -1

Frequent price error. Given it's that price for all of an hour before they fix it, there's clearly a persistent bug.

        • +3

Yeah, Amazon certainly is incapable of fixing a pricing bug.

Or they're really good at providing excellent limited-quantity sale prices that attract clicks to their site.

          • @eug: Hopefully, that's a bug otherwise it's not legal.

Hopefully, that's a bug otherwise it's not legal.

              Why?

          • +1

@eug: I think its the latter - often after these limited sales, the item shoots up to the best seller list, which is important if you want to show up top in searches in the same product category. I just have the feeling someone is gaming the system.

The negative side is that these deals always seem to happen at a time when i'm taking a break from my hourly ozbargain deal addiction :'(

        • its less than that its available for purchase - its up but you cant order..

  • wait for WD 10G, as i have very bad lucky on Seagate.

    • So because one person had bad luck we should all avoid?

      • Yes didn't you know? Thats how it works.

    • But WDs drives are white 5400rpm helium: air.
Slower compare to this - 7200rpm barracuda pro.

    • Likewise I've had the worst experience with Seagate.. I used to have 1tb single hard drives (4) some 8 years ago from them and they each died within the space of a couple of months of each other… been with WD ever since and never had a problem. Just my experience.

    • Years ago all the 1TB WD blue (3.5" or 2.5") we stocked all bad (more than 10) have to return them all to the supplier.

      MHDD reported warning.

  • +4

I have shucked 4 of these and each one of them have a 10TB Barracuda Pro 7200rpm inside. Running Atto benchmark, I get 230mb/s (limited by USB 3.0 port).

so definitely a good drive inside..

    • Why'd you shuck them only to put them inside another enclosure?

      • +1

nah, I shucked them to put it in my NAS, but wanted to test the performance of it, so I just attached it back just for a test

  • Seagate - Get your cash back, but not your data.

  • +3

Before you shuck any external drive, run a stress test on them and check for bad blocks. Should any bad blocks come up, return the drive to Amazon.
This will avoid unnecessary pain later on.

  • damn i missed out on this one. looking for a big drive to replace my nas

    • Sign up to camelcamelcamel. Just aleeted that it dropped to 249 one hour ago but just missed out.

  • chucked mine its a barracuda pro
on my mac pro it shows up SATA 3.1 6.0Gb/s 7200 rpm
disk speed test read 228Mb/s write 230Mb/s
    Compared to my 4Tb 5400rpm 115.9MB/s 125.5Mb/s
