I wanted to see how I could get greater discounts on a variety of products/services. Turns out that if you are an RACQ member you can get discounts like 4c/Litre off Puma Fuel or a range of other discounts on the link. Cheapest way it turns out is to simply open a bank account with them. In turn, Suncorp offer something similar and you can view the discounts in their app after opening an account. For instance they offer 5% off physical Officeworks gift cards that are securely mailed. https://www.suncorp.com.au/loyalty-program.html?intcmp=SUN:G…

I think what has changed is that to be a member all you need to do is open a bank account rather than any of their other products/services meaning bugger all investment. The Suncorp side of things has discounts on a range of stores that aren't typically found in other rewards programs in particular the range of gift cards.
I've done it before by just searching for an RACQ card on Google images.
Bloody genius
How does that work? They take the card and swipe it whenever I get fuel.
I store my RACQ card in my phone, so they can't swipe it anyway
usually for me one of 2 things happen
1) they manually key in the barcode of my card
2) they swipe a "template" card they seem to have behind the register & I get the discount
Cheapest membership is $97 per year. That means you would need to buy 2,425 litres of fuel to make up the difference. And that's assuming Puma is the cheapest and you don't have discounts available elsewhere. Taking advantage of the 7-Eleven app seems to yield unbeatable prices.
I only once had to get my car towed and the local towie just charged me $50.
Can get 3% off Caltex fuel cards with a Macquarie account.
Sorry mate, all you need to do is open a bank account that makes you a member.
Oh sorry I didn't realise. So I can get free RACQ membership without paying $97? :o
Actually I just received my card but no trace of a membership number. So I've sent them an email, although I have found a fee of $26/27 to be part of their rewards program online.
……this has been like this for god knows how long.
