Just a thing to note. From what i see these "developer" edition WMR headsets don't come with the controllers as supposed to the consumer version which do. Other then that the headset themselves seem to be the same specs wise.

    • this would be pretty useless without the controllers.
WOrth spending the extra $100 for the two controllers… though the controllers do seem to chew a fair bit of batteries (i use eneloops in mine)

      • I use my HP WMR headset for like a 3-4 hours a week with eneloop pros in the controllers. Only need charge them about once a month. I did have a problem one time where the controllers were at like 80% and a week later they were dead.. dunno what happened there… i definitely turned em off.. good thing we all have eneloops stocked up :D

Yeah same with the Samsung WMR controllers. I was replacing Eneloops daily D:

      • This is still useful as a cheap way to run racing/flight sims in VR.

But yes, for anyone looking to get the full range of VR experiences, spend extra to get a headset with controllers bundled in. It'll still be cheaper than buying this and then deciding you want the controllers later, as WMR controllers are pretty hard to come by / expensive.

It'll work. I run this on core i5 laptop with onboard Intel 520 graphics card.

  • Dumb question, could you use a set of Oculus touch controllers with this?

    Oculus Touch
Includes: 2x Oculus Touch controllers, 1x Oculus sensor

Looks like i found my answer - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UbDHuEkvqZc

Acer Windows Mixed Reality Headset Developer Edition is out of stock.

  • Can get consumer version (non developer) at BHP ~188 delivered.

But again, good luck finding controllers.

had one of these and while it was fun and everything the 2 biggest drawbacks are
    1. you can see all the pixels the screen door effect is still present and if its something that bothers you easily you'll notice it with this.
    2. when crouching low to the ground when using the controllers it looses sync with positioning and can be SUPER annoying.

the positives? a super cheap way into VR and works with most rift games , can also dl a program that allows htv vive games to work also.

    • I think you get over the screen door effect.
These headsets already have higher resolution than the occulus rift and HTC Vive and PS VR from memory. I can't imagine playing with an even lower resolution.

I would recommend trying it if you have a few hundred bucks to burn. I am glad I got it. It's a cool novelty

      • I tried to get over the screen door effect and sadly can't its just too noticeable. Even when setting Super Sampling up to insane amounts.
I guess I'm just super sensitive to it.

I've actually read up that the PS VR even though it's lower resolution it actually suffer less from SDE because of the tech used in the display, I'm yet to try it though.
