The nerf recons I received from big w last time have this problem fixed. This must be for old recons.
The one I have has a black cover at the back to protect the plunger.

I wonder when the 'longshot' will be on sale at BigW. Supposedly it goes 60 feet after taking the ARs out so I wouldn't mind one of those.

get her the Nerf Stampede, you don't need to cock the gun back as it's an automatic ;)
Might be a bit on the heavy side though!
I have a recon, they're ok for kids to play with as there are lots of little bits that clip on/off, but for us bigger kids it's not great. It doesn't shoot much further than a nite finder, is many times the size and has a pretty dodgy cocking mechanism.
Comes with a torch though.
Which models have an auto reload? Its a bit unfair on the kids when they can only do one shot to my 6.
In terms of bigger guns, the vulcan and the stampede are full auto. The recon has 6 shots, but you need to cock the top half of the gun between shots, but it's quite difficult to pull back especially if any attachments are on it.
The maverick is a pretty good tradeoff and they go up on special fairly often, the 6 shot revolver. Most of the other big ones like the longstrike, longshot are also only 1 shot per cock with fairly big mechanisms to pull back.
There is the barricade, but I'm not sure how that one works.
I heard this gun is not very good? It looks all big and powerful but apparently it is no better than my maverick..
Will wait for the longshot to come on sale.
Yeah, I got one and it doesn't go any further than my maverick or nitefinder. And the accuracy seems to be worse than the maverick!
It looks pretty cool when fully assembled, though it's performance gets worse with the front barrel on - a few feet off the range and maybe a tiny bit more accuracy. The red dot accessory is kinda neat though!

After watching this, I'm very tempted to get one. Could be a fun project for $15 :D
A note though, as per the discussion started by dreamscene above, it may not be a good idea to cut the black back off given it was put there to lower the chance of injury by getting skin pinched/stuck in the gun. Since [I'm guessing] it's being removed (in the mod) to lower airflow restriction, maybe a better idea would be drilling a series of small holes in the end of the black casing?

question guys: I've got a CS-6 coming from what i've read you need to slide back the cocking mechanism before every shot.
which guns are semi-auto and don't require any cocking between shots, and, are they as powerful as the cs-6??
The Stampede and the Vulcan are the only guns which does not require cocking between each shot.
The Vulcan is a belt fed MG. THe Stampede is a auto assault rifle. Both are fun :)
Got my consignment of recons today (just minutes after I placed an order for some cheap barricades lol).
But wtf is with those streamline darts, they are all over the shop. And the normal sucker darts don't fit in the recon mag, is there a way to use the sucker darts with the recon?
