FREE Half Life 2: Lost Coast & Half Life 2: Deathmatch + Other Savings

140

Found this nice deal:

"For a limited time, all ATI customers may receive a FREE copy of Half Life 2: Lost Coast and Half Life 2: Deathmatch by creating a Steam account."

I was however able to add this to my currently existing Steam account and although I am an ATI customer, I can't see any verification process to ensure all customers are actually with ATI. Can anyone confirm?

Also many other savings mentioned at the bottom of:

Comes up every 6 months or so, this is old but a good reminder

Pretty sure this is always available.

Nividia version: http://www.steampowered.com/nvidia/ Only difference is it gives you portal the demo and peggle extreme as well as HL2 LC and DM.

  • I'm guessing the validation is by checking what graphics card you have in your system, adn that wouldn't need you to input anything at all.

    • Although I didn't redeem this offer I believe it asks for your ATI/Nvidia serial number which is listed on the box and card.

Anyone that is redeeming this feel free to correct me :)

A very newbie question: What is ATI Steam? A graphic card, graphic driver or something else like Direct X?

    • what the guy below me said!

if you have a Nvidia or ATI graphics card then you can download these games for free. Try Portal for sure although Portal 2 is out already(early)

I'm not sure Intel cards are included!

Steam is a DRM solution for selling games and ATI is a brand of graphic card.

You can download it for free here: http://store.steampowered.com/

Edit. Damn thought I was replying to ^^

    • Nice, so essentially you download and play. And this method is supported by ATI and Nvidia graphic cards.

I wonder what Intel is thinking. XO

      • I reckon you can still play with Intel cards just that Nvidia and ATI formally support steam!

  • Ooooh sweet. I haven't played HL2: Lost Coast.

    • Lost Coast is more a tech demo than anything else.

There's only like 6 minutes of actual gameplay in Lost Coast. The other 15 minutes you stand around and ogle at the pretty HDR graphics… which would probably be mind boggling if you've lived under a rock for the past decade and haven't seen Crysis.

    • Lost Coast has been free for the last 6 years. The developer commentary is interesting (as it is in all the HL2 episodes)
