Dodgy too they don't even tell you the price of one SMS after you use up your free 25 before you sign up….
And @POWERevolution
I think the idea of this service is to connect everyone under a group, so that you can send a SMS to one number and have everyone in that group receive it (charged one SMS for each member in the group)And I don't know… this post seems fishy… I have a feeling it could be sockpupeting. OP owe up if you represent this company in anyway.
@Trance n Dance
I represent the company. gText is not the dodgy Premium SMS thing you used to. It really tries to solve group communication problem for users. It is prepaid and you are in total control of how much you spend and your group subscriptions.Once the free credits runout, you simply have to prepay to continue. No auto-billing to your mobile. Various purchase options and pricing can be seen after you login in 'Buy Credits' page. We are still in Beta stage and will be updating pricing page with the details. But for now, enjoy the free signup credits and free referral credits.
@POWERevolution
SMSglobal is a bulk SMS company to send mass marketing messages.
We are completely different business model. For small groups, sending a message from your mobile to one number reaches everyone in the group. Convenient to organize events, road trips, parties.
For businesses, gText is the most efficient and cost effective way to build an opt-in mobile database. And engage in a meaningful conversation with their current and potential customers. Great for market research, new product launch and offer promotions!
oh right, nice service.
What are the normal prices. I clicked "pricing" and it says nothing about costs. Seems like I can't find out without signing up.
It is around 15c per SMS. However , we are currently developing a new Pricing page. Watch out for it in the next few days.
It is around 15c per SMS
I wouldn't consider this a bargain.
$3.75 saving, also pretty useless because it costs 1 credit for each person who receives the message, say you have a 5 person group that's 5 credits gone with each message, $2.75 only gets you 5 messages.
At $0.15/credit You can save money by sending SMS's manually. (depending on your phone plan)
Hey that's the "business model" :P
- Build a website to send group SMS
- Charge AUD$0.15 for each SMS, which you can buy at places like FishText for £0.02.
- PROFIT!
But I guess consumers at OzBargain knows better.
I agree that we can't beat phone plan pricing now. You pay premium for the extra convenience you get when using the service.
Imagine you having a group for your friends sending SMS to organise an event, party or nightout. gText can help avoid the confusion of a message from one person not sending to the entire group. gText takes the hassle out by broadcasting every message to the entire group thus keeping everyone in loop.
We are constantly working with our suppliers to bring the cost down. This depends on volume. When more users start using gText, there is a big chance the price will go down massively. And also, we are working with businesses sponsor group chats so that members don't have to pay anything. For example, a ski rental shop can sponsor group chats for a ski group. But that's future. Watch out for it.

I'm sure that if they were organising a group function, they would use an alternative FREE service.. you know, like that old fashioned email.
Also if there is a need to have group contact by sms
You can send an sms to one receipient as individual sms thoughIt's a good idea but I don't see it taking off too the moon.
Email - I will give you two scenarios: you are on a roadtrip and in an Internet black-spot. Second scenario is when you are out with friends and pub-crawling .. Would you check email often? But a text message can reach everyone guaranteed.
If youre in an internet black-spot, wouldnt you also be in a network-blackspot? so you cant make calls/send sms either?
For second scenario, if youre already out with your friends and drinking with them, why would you text them? Unless you suddenly forgot to invite a bunch of people…in that case, very nice of you ;)
Or, you need to spread a rumour like Gosip Girl lolol.
@jLove I love so much .. :-)
…thinks that many people use fb (facebook) for this kind of thing. (not me, I'm holding out for as long as I can). It seems that many mobile phone plans have all you can eat texting , and all you can gorge yourself on social networking. Businesses would use a provider that gives them a bulk rate, computer access, (and never @ .15c), but I'm glad that martinila is trying to get better deals. For an ol' girl like me, if I don't get a personal phone call, email or snail mail inviting me - I wouldn't go anyway. I don't like the mass produced stuff from people I know (that's just me - I reckon people like to feel special) - from a business I don't care about the mass-produced communication, and I expect it. There's some free market research for you:)

We listened to your comments.. We have revised our pricing and is now available before signing up. We have also created a new group to receive free topup vouchers from time to time. Checkout our website for more details!
