  • Love your commentary. Thanks for the work. Think I'll grab some marinara for spag sauce. And a few bottles of Pepsi Max.

    "They're baaaaack!"

  • Cheeres bud!

  • The specials suck this week (except for the marinara mix).
As for "Imported Barramundi Fillets", omg we are now importing our own fish!
    Where do they come from?

    • +1

      Fish farms in Thailand.

  • Fresh Large Cooked Aussie Tiger Prawns 1kg, $22.88 (Save $10.61)

Is this the cheapest…what's the %saving in the past?

    • +4

The cheapest for this has been for $19.99/kg in July last year. Before that the cheapest was $21.94/kg back in October 2009, $21.99/kg in February 2011, and $22.88/kg in March 2011. So this is actually a pretty good deal in terms of Woolworths history on this product.

CAreful of the TruBlu or LA soft drinks - they've been adding an artificial sweetener to their non-diet drinks which results in them tasting awful! Used to buy them all the time but stopped when they started doing that.

    • Noticed that they started doing that some time ago (at least with the orange flavoured ones, that's where I noticed it, I think it might have been the same time when they changed the look of the wrapper on the bottle. They also used to appear in this house quite a bit until I looked at the ingredients again one time.

    • So the diet versions are still good?

      • The diet versions are the ones that always had the sweetener, otherwise they'd just be fizzy water with flavour and colour and no sweetness at all.

        • Diet drinks have artificial sweetener.
non-diet drinks also have aritifical sweetener.

So they are now all effectively sweet diet drinks?

        • the non-diet versions would have less sweetener, since they still have "normal" amounts of sugar. I'm not entirely sure what the purpose of adding sweetener to a sugary drink is.

        • I had to look up the reason they added sweetener to non-diet drinks, and the reason is simple - it's cheaper than sugar.

That's kinda… stupid.. lol. Artificial sweetener should not be cheaper than sugar, it just seems wrong :<

        • thats the sort of shit that should be highly taxed. Cut our sugar industry a break for a change.

        • That's a stupid idea. The products are not equivalent. People drink diet drinks to avoid sugar, not because they are cheaper. If you don't want artificial sweeteners in your drink, you should boycott those drinks instead of getting government involved.

        • It probably is a stupid idea.

But it took us all this conversation to figure out what is in each product.

        • Me and wampus already knew :]

It just took the whole conversation to find out why the sweeteners are in there.

        • i've been educated lol
