  • This is hard to resist.
I sold my Wii U some time ago, and really miss some it.
Nintendoland has some incredibly unique experiences.

  • +1

Ordered one to pickup tomorrow. Thanks OP.

  • Do these come in the original boxes?

  • Damn I thought these were all gone. Where was EB when I was looking for one last year?! Had to pay a bit more on gumtree. All good.

Good buying I reckon for homebrew

  • This is a great deal. I recently dug out an old Wii, have been loving it. I think this is probably a good and cheap upgrade.

    • +2

Same. Have a modded wii that I hadn't played in years. Fired it up last week and having lots of fun playing Wii, GC, Virtual Console and WiiWare ganes.

  • +1

Have the switch but found my old copy Simpsons Hit and Run on Gamecube the other day and that combined with not waiting around for ports has me sold. Cheers OP.

  • Have bought one - No home delivery though, pick up only. Stores around me had 1 available each of the item - I chose the Mario Kart bundle, so it is conceivable that they could sell out quickly.

  • My advice is do a pick up if you can, you will be able to inspect the condition of the game pad and Iswap them if you want.

My first one has this horrible scratch on the game pad screen and I got it swap to a better condition one.
Note that it's a refurb unit but some of these unit still in a good condition.

Got one for $109 with Mario Kart at Cashies last week. They had two more in my local store and plenty around Australia usually less than this price.

    • Cashies?

      • +1

        Cash Converters.

    • That’s an excellent price.

Unfortunately CashConverters has variable pricing, usually based on the condition of the item. Most Wii Us at this price at the moment have something wrong with them.

      Looks like you got lucky.

      • Not unfortunate. Variable pricing is the best thing about cashies. If you didn't have variable pricing you would never find a bargain. When it comes to videogames, the price varies more on store than condition.

        • +1

I can never seem to find anything worth buying at cashies or other independent second hand shops like it. It seems to me they get stuff in when its only just on the way out, set a price comparable to brand new clearance prices, and then dont update the price for years. Just my experience but I stopped going to them because it seems like a waste of time.

I feel like I have done a lot better out of tip shops e.g. at the green shed in canberra I picked up two Wii controllers (not the pro one, the simpler one) and a nun chuck with missing battery door for 15 bucks (which I thought was ok)

    • My local wanted 150 for just the console yesterday. Was in another the other day and same price there.

Did pick up a bundle of 6 Buzz games and the buzzers, all for 7 bucks though, happy with that.

    • Cashies are great for some consoles and games. I got a 120gb ps3 slim with one controller for $30 at cashies just a few months ago. Was worth that price even just only as a bluray player

  • Same deal on eBay ebgames store. Choose click and collect

    • The listing on their eBay store doesn't make a mention of the bundled game as far as I can see, otherwise I'd purchase with 5% eBay discount code.

  • To use the Wii games I assume I'll need the Wii remotes, but the only ones I can find are on eBay. can anyone comment on the quality?

    • +3

Avoid. Get genuine ones (from Amazon if you can't find anywhere else).

      • agree. my aftermarket wii remote is terrible. go genuine.

  • I can't see the one with Super Smash Bros for Wii U?

  • I ordered one of these last year during an EBGames sale and softmodded it. Just a tip, when you get an external hard drive - make sure you either get one with its own power supply or plug it in through a powered USB hub otherwise it will give you issues. I personally have a 2.5" external USB drive through a powered USB hub and it works great.

The kids have had hours and hours on it and it is a great console.

    • +2

Instead of a powered hub you can get a HDD Y-cable with 2x USB connectors, which lets it pull power from two ports instead of one.

  • I have done the Haxchi on mine and purchased SSB but I can’t get it to run of of the sd card so I don’t ruin the disc.
It’s on a sd card but I get a black screen when trying to load from it.
Can anyone point me in the right direction to get this to work?
Would also love to be able to run it from an external hard drive

    • It's not in front of me, but there is a software tool on the Wii U that can transfer from SD to SSD.

  • How much did they originally cost pre-owned?

    • i think they went below $200 brand new when they weren't selling well

  • +1

Looking at this deal has given me cause to look at Facebook Marketplace for Wii U deals and there are some people seriously flogging their entire Wii U collections off for cheap (sub $200 with multiple 1st party games and even an odd pro controller or two thrown in…)

  • +1

Another worthwhile hack for the Wii U. Unlock wii vc processor from default 729mhz to 1.215ghz!. Greatly improves high cpu demand apps rinning in vWii mode. Especially emulators.

    • Holy shit balls, cheers.

  • -3

wii u is great but this is overpriced considering what you're getting. you could get a brand new 3ds for $100

    • EB was selling brand new MK8 bundles for $180 last July.

    • +1

Where are New 3DS' being sold for $100? Or are you referring to the recent Amazon sales.

      • target have been flogging them off for years. i got mine brand new sub 200 years ago. also amazon as of late

  • +1

Got mine today just for Gamecube. Excellent unit. Sold the free game back to EB for $15. Probably would have got more if I was a member. After playing Star Wars Rogue Squadron 2 for the last few hours on the big screen it's already worth it.

  • Whats the diff between the premium and the standard one?

    • Premium came in black with 32gb internal storage
Basic came in white with 8gb internal storage

  • +1

I expect to procrastinate until this deal passes. Just got the 3ds for 99 and previously got the 28 buck Wii and haven't touched either of them. I feel like its a small niche in between if i get this, for someone whos never owned a Nintendo console before

  • +3

Picked this up with a pro controller. The unit itself has scuff marks but the controllers were in very good condition. Charged them up, did some research and mod installing, and damn if this isn't an amazing console that I overlooked. The ability to play NES, SNES, GBA, DS, 3DS, N64, Gamecube, Wii, and WiiU in a single Nintendo console? and I can use the switch gamecube controller adapter if I want to? One hell of a good system.

    • I picked one up as well as a bunch of games - Mario Kart, Splatoon, etc. Though I'm also very interested in modding it to play my old GC games upscaled and with HDMI. Do you know if you can still play online if you mode the system?

      • As long as you're not using cheats you should be ok.

  • Picked one up today, can't believe the condition it is in, looks brand new, not even used. Must have been lucky…..

    • Which bundle?

    • +1

Yeah, I got one and it's scratched to hell. Controller is okay, though, and it seems to work okay.

  • +1

    got a bundle, thanks OP!
very satisfied with the condition the whole thing is in, pro controller also mint!
been busy trying to load the hacks
my 4 year old is as excited but isn't giving me time. to figure the environment out… still very new to the wii u.

  • Got my bundle today..you guys got lucky, mine shows wear and tear, and doesn’t look like gamepad is charging :(

  • I got a Wii-U console from the previous deal. Now my WiiU Controller AC Adapter cable is a bit bent and not charging very well.

I think they may have given me a third party AC Adapter, as it doesn't say "Nintendo" anywhere on it. A question for others who purchased, did your AC Adapters say "Nintendo" on the adapter like the examples below?

    https://cdn02.nintendo-europe.com/media/images/08_content_im…
    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Nintendo-Wii-U-Authentic-Gamepad…

    • For anyone wondering, I returned the charger to eb games and they swapped it out for another one. The wiiu units have 12 month warranty :)

  • I had a storage corrupted issue the moment I first started it up (Scratch condition was not too bad either), swapped it over but kept the tablet as the replacement unit had heaps more scratches on the tablet, they were more than happy to swap over with only doing a split second check over.
now I am about to return my physical copy of Mario Kart 8 as I no longer need it after reading on GBAForums.

Also my first console attempt had generic power packs with no Nintendo labels, but this second attempt had the proper branded stuff so can be a hit and miss.
