        In my opinion the Elements is a much better drive. Standard connector (more robust too) & no bloatware.

          USB 3.0 is backwards compatible so you can use it but you will only get USB 2.0 speeds.

      Samsung, Maxtor(Now owned by seagate). I currently am using a Samsung S2 1Tb and has been very reliable, no failures, no files lost, and is quite fast even though it is USB 2.0. And my 5 year old Maxtor is still working like it was when it was new (but it's a tad slower than the samsung), but no files lost on that through its rough use either. Both are 2.5" hdds. Whilst buying my Samsung, I did see quite a few WD 2.5" 640gb as returned and discounted stock at officeworks.
