  • What do use this for when you're out bush?

Too large to be a utility knife and too small to clear shrubs.

    • It’s a classic style knife and it will serve good for utility purposes. In the bush the machete will make your life easy.

Came here expecting to see this comment.

  • The Gerber Prepare & Prevail Kit looks like a good deal?

    • Ya because the machete alone is $63.99.

      • Tempted!

I'm sure they are useful enough out camping.

    • Any stock anywhere?

      • Everywhere. at least in Syd.

I feel like a machete type kit isnt too popular with sydneysiders but a machete and two knives etc. for $59… how can you beat it?

        • Just went into moore park and they couldn't find them. Guy called rockdale and they didn't have them in stock either.

  • They are many things but definitely not good quality

    • Ya I agree with you on the sheath that comes along with the knife.

Depends on the range. Gerber were once a great brand that made fantastic gear. Now they make some fantastic (expensive) gear and some mediocre cheaper gear, and their cheap gear has damaged the brand of the expensive gear.

I've had one of their multi-tools for about 12 years, it's been great. The only problem I've ever had was the phillips head screwdriver breaking about 5 years after getting it, and they repaired it for free since they have a 25 year warranty.

    I thought that's a GTA weapon

  • I see Bunnings have price beat the Multi-Tool.

As far as Multi-Tools go, is there any better value around, say from Leatherman etc.?

FYI it's illegal to carry a knife with you in public in Australia without a lawful excuse - and self-defense is not a lawful excuse.

    • what about a multi-tool?

      • nfi… you'd probably get away with it

Has anyone checked if the OP is OK, seeing as he stumbled onto this deal?

  • are you allowed to carry one of these without a license in australia?
