Wife brought few rolls of commercial quality grade weed mat.Got it from Cranbourne Bunnings not sure if its available nationally. Heaps available till afternoon.

  I can't understand the use of this product. It may suppress weeds initially, but as debris covers over and new seed is deposited, weeds will grow on top. Then over time, the matting will become buried and be useless. It is then a royal pain to remove (as I've had to in established gardens where it was laid down many years ago and forgotten.

  There are much better ways to prevent weeds than using this. Consider deep mulching with hardwood chips. Not only will it suppress weeds, it will aid moisture retention and increase soil organic matter. It's also much more sustainable.
