I have been watching VORNADO for deal for a while. In TGG it's over 200. This looks like a new model to 630.

the Vornado 660 costs $149 @Costco
What's the difference
27
That's numberwang!
Yeah…I have the Costco one. At this price, I would not be tempted to deal with Chalet…even if it was the same model. If you don't have Costco though…
do you have a photo?
you can get a quality kogan tower fan for $90
hahaha and you can get a quality kmart fan for $19, the same as the kogan fan. Although the kogan fan is nothing like the vornado.
Well no. Kogan and Vornado are both DC brushless fans. Kmart isn't so it's not quality
This thing is completely different concept though. It's not just a tiny little pedestal fan, it's goal is to shoot air in a wall and actually try and circulate air around the room. It's MUCH more powerful than a little pedestal fan. Technology aside. Kogan fans are as effective as KMart fans, perhaps slightly higher quality.
@krisspy: This isn't a DC model.
Also the white model is 80c cheaper https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-VORNADO-VORTEX-633-FLOOR-FAN…
Note: Scammers.. I and others have been scam by them.
U can reed the comment on the 20% Ebay discount thread to see that others have mention the sellers as scammer
EBay has protection in place for that
Nah, there is a thread on this.
They have worked out a way to work around it by sending false packages.
If u read the process they used to scam. U will find that they work the system so that ebay side with them. Scammer know Ebay process and used it.
That sux
I get this but I didn't believe you at first as these threads look like a bunch of people complaining about their experience or a friend experience. It is actually more useful to look at the positive feedback for this seller. There are a lot of $1.06 bamboo sticks shipped free from Australia… And negatives in between. With a few successful sales. This tells a different story.
Yeah wow, low rating accounts, one word feedback, $1 items…
you order a fan and end up with a stick
I’ve bought Stanley Rogers cutlery set and had no problems .
Yes, scammer tactic. They need positive feedback for scam to work on eBay.
Not every sell will be a scam, which doesn’t mean they aren’t scammer with the intention to defraud people. They just target some high profit sales.
When Ebay side will seller, they also remove the negative feedback from the buyer. Thus trusting on positive feedback percentage doesn’t work by itself. Rev for example see how it work and I understand when he didn’t believe them to be scammer at first base purely on ozbargain member feedback.
With a multiple people here on ozbargain already experience their scams plus their profile on eBay (lots of cheap sold items). In hindsight, they show tell tale sign of scammer.
Fair enough. I’m just letting people that I’ve had a decent experience. They are probably isolated cases where this “scamming” occurs but they could also think the buyer can s causing problems. I’m not defending them. However it’s also fair for me to put my positive experience.
@maverickjohn: I don’t think I was causing problem to them. From the process other here mention too, I can’t see them causing problem.
By informing them politely that the parcel hasn’t arrive a few weeks past the eta is enough for them to lied and initiated scam process, I really can’t justified how the purchaser was causing problem.
Just from ozbargain, several members was scam. I don’t think it’s as isolated as u think. I am happy that not everyone was scam by them.
Maybe specific individual there or one/some of their drop shipper is performing scam. What I am certain of, is scam has been perform on their end.
Edit: Just that if people shop there after reading mine and other confirming scam has occurred , they accepted the risk. Hopefully like me, they have fallback means to recover their fund if things goes wrong.
@shoppingbag: Thanks for the input. I didn’t mean to offend you. But I have heard of buyers falsely claiming they didn’t get products from some eBay sellers on the forum. Hence why I stated that. But there may very well be a scamming process behind their actions and I just got lucky
I've bought from this mob quite a few times. Chalet-online, knives-online, and some other store I can't remember. Look…I've always gotten orders from them…eventually. Sometimes no problem…sometimes it has taken a month to get from Sydney to Canberra and only after I raised a case on eBay. Sometimes it's not even retail packaging. Once I received a pocket knife from them and it was just in an envelope with a postage stamp - Australia post had held it up and put a notice on the envelope that they'd be after their money (they never came after it though).
I don't know what their game is, but I suspect that they're not scammers…probably just very disorganised, ineffective business people. I suspect they lie about the reasons behind any problems, blaming Australia Post or whoever else…but it's probably just crappy service really.
They have some excellent prices and from time to time I'm tempted to buy from them again, but I'm trying not to deal with these stores anymore if I can help it. If you don't mind the possibility of a hassle and delayed receipt of your order, then you might be happy enough to take a chance. I'd say about 30 - 50% of the orders I've made have been somewhat to extraordinarily slow (and on two I have raised a case with eBay). I think that, if you follow eBay's processes for protection, you'll be fine - but really, best not to take a chance.
you would find that its just dropshipped from other companies to the customer, they probably rarely touch any of it
Dunno…I thought they had a storefront or local warehouse at least.
I envisage a warehouse with lost orders sitting behind boxes and crap all over the place. The parcels are totally random - like somebody is sticking things in whatever random packaging they have lying around - but doesn't have the normal drop shipping appearance I'm used to from oseas. I guess that could be drop shipped domestic (do people do that)? It's unlike the other stuff I get off fleabay that is obviously drop shipped (really gets up my nose when the descriptions imply the location is Australia).
I use this to lit the coals for BBQ in no time
"The Vornado 633 can move air up to 75 feet" make sure you don't burn your neighbour's house :)
is it works great?
Yes it does.
Either that or you can use a hair dryer, preferably one with cold air.
How do these compare? https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/kogan-dc-motor-circulator-small…
One company mass-produces electronics, the other specialises in fans.
One is a powerful fan, the other is a more powerful, purpose designed fan that does far more and is of higher quality build. If you just want a fan, the kogan will do, if you want to push large amounts of air around a room or to a certain area like up stairs, then the vornado will be far better.
Thanks. Looking for one to move air conditioned air from one part of the house to another: your summary helps!
One is a reasonable product at a relatively fair price.
The other is a over-hyped wonka product with dubious technical merit that's sold at inflated profits to gullib!e people who blindly believe social media reviews and endorsements LOL
Okay, I give up. Which is the "reasonable product at a relatively fair price", and which is an "over-hyped wonka product"?
What do you get they haven't used either haha
Apparently this works well with your AC running. Instead of setting the temp to say 22 you can set it to 25 and have the fan circulate the cool air around the house.
I would keep it at 22c and use the fan to extend the reach of the cold air coming out of the a/c
Raising the temp is the point though, setting the AC to 25 instead of 22 equates to a huge difference in power usage.
Ceiling fan would work better for that
Sounds like some “as seen on TV” caper
