I have been looking around and doing some research for a coffee machine thats not fully automatic.
Came across this AWESOME deal. Only downside is that its on backorder.
JB Hifi & The Good Guys advertised price is $1499

Same unit advertised at $1499 being offered at $1049. A difference of $450.
Sorry if you dont feel this is a 'bargain' for you.
it's lower than than the RRP but it's not an "AWESOME" deal - the 920 has been in the low 700s a couple of times in the last month and the 820 can be regularly obtained for less than 200.
having said that, this is a great machine and imo worth this price.
I guess if you really need it now then go for it.
Else you can easily get both for about $900. Past week prices for both:
28/12 BES-920 $714.60
25/12 BCG-820 $189.05
Separate deals for grinder can get to around $160, and coffee machine low 700's.
The free beans, well, dare I say they might be stale by the time you get them.
Might be best to purchase separate.
Really popular combo though..
Wait for HN to do the machine alone for $680 again. The grinder is a piece of shit and should be replaced with a Compak / Mazzer jolly / Macap M4D at a minimum.
Whilst not being the greatest grinder on earth it's far from being a piece of shit.
Can anyone else confirm how ‘shit’ this grinder is? I am looking at getting this setup and I’ve seen mostly positive reviews about the pair but have not used the grinder before.
I'd suggest you will not get a better quality grinder at that price point. If you hit peak coffee-nerd, then you'll want to aim higher, and open the wallet much wider.
Confirming what seajay says.
Perfectly adequate grinder (has done me for 5 years). And you are not going to get anything much better unless you spend 3-4 times the dollars.
Grinder is fine. Coming from someone who made coffees for 15 years.
Me too!!!
Bing Lee has it cheaper - the grinder is going for $179 and the machine for $849 - total $1028.
Does this price above include the machine and grinder in Black?
Agree it may be cheaper but they only offer the one finish which personally I find a little cheap looking (only if it were high polished steel). Only place I could find in the black was HN
Not the cheapest price as mentioned above, a neg from me.
What's the cheapest currently? Don't neg just because it was cheaper once upon a time?
Those deals shown are expired and I dont see where BingLee offer the both units in Black?
I’ve been looking for this combination in black at a decent price but have found not all retailers offer it in this colour. JB Hifi had a really good deal on the dual boiler a few days ago but it was limited to the red colour only (I was told JB don’t offer the black anyway). From what I have seen this is a good deal based on the black combination but would be interested to see if someone can find it cheaper.
Been watching price on this and the Oracle for a month or so. Amazon have been selling this setup at this price for at least a week I believe. You might see them drop the price now that HN is at same price. Don't forget to also factor in shopback or cash rewards if going with Amazon.
I'd skip this for a Rancilio Silvia machine
Agreed. If you were looking to spend $1000 for a machine and $300-$600 for a grinder to suit (Macam or Compak) and keep in mind the Rancilio is a single boiler where the Breville is Dual.
I upgraded from the Silvia to the Breville for the dual boiler. Have found it easier to get consistently good coffee from the Breville. The only downside is that it's unlikely to have the longevity of the Silvia.
Depends if you really like making only black coffee.
What's the longevity of this machine?
can't see any bargin
