Mitsubishi L4 Grande 710L $1988 & Mitsubishi L4 Grande 650L $1695 + Delivery @ Harvey Norman

630

Hey guys

Just noticed this deal on Harvey Normans website for the Mitsubishi L4 grande 710L & 650L $1998 & $1695. I bought the 710L version from Binglee when thay had 20% off online purchases back in Easter & it’s been a fantastic fridge definitely would recommend. Note that the 710L version is on clearance and maybe difficult to find in stores but i think you can still order online through Harvey Normans website.

Special LED lighting in the vegetable drawers makes sure your fruit and vegetables stay fresher for longer.

    How does that work?

    • +1

Probably UV, kills surface pathogens. Also, free suntan when you get a carrot out!

      • -1

        Probably UV

        https://www.ozlighting.com.au/blog/do-led-lights-produce-uv-…

"These energy saving lights do not emit many – if any – UV rays"

        • +1

rookie mistake, responding to jv! :)

"not many" is the same as 'Some', just not that's what's doing the magic work.

          alternative answer, marketing bull.

        • Remove the phosphorus layer from an LED and an the LED basically becomes a blue laser.
Its probably not the proper wave lenght to be classed as a uv LED as the amount of uv emited would be minimum. You can get specialised LEDs that only emit uv wave lengh below 400nm or you could add a filter to the LED to only emit uv light.

      • mimics photosynthesis and creates chlorophyll in vegetables

So we can grow veggies in the fridge?

        • +25

Absolutely, our veggie draws get stacked with new stuff on top of the old stuff, old stuff breaks down and creates nutrients for the new stuff its a delicate eco system but works.

    • Would work in the same way the Beko Active Blue Fresh light works.

Yes it’s the UK website but it’s the same here in AUS

  • Dang no dispenser.

Any recommendations for a fridge either water/ice dispenser?

    • +4

I have this fridge: https://www.harveynorman.com.au/mitsubishi-574l-multi-drawer… with an icemaker.

Not currently on special, and more expensive.

It's not plumbed in (you have to refill the water dispenser - but this is a 30 second job every few days depending on how much ice you use). These are expensive fridges, though my experience is that hardly normal will price match the best price you can get and throw in free delivery and removal of your old fridge. If you have an open plan kitchen / living area, these fridges are so close to silent that you will struggle to tell if they're running, and they're super efficient too. Great fridges.

      • Got same one, very happy with it..been over 3 yrs now

      • I have this too, amazing fridge. Can't believe the price still. I got it for $1.9K at the time, free delivery, E&S.

      • I can recommend the multi drawer fridges, love mine

Never wanted a plumbed fridge due to a possibility of leaks, moving house or germs if left for a while and not used in winter

      • I'd tend to stay clear of ice makers, seem to carry further problems/take up lots of space in fridge. I also dont drink/eat ice so win win for me. Good idea you dont need to hook it up though. Thats the way i'd be doing it.

      • Have this and love it. Solid built, silent, spacious and organised. Initially we thought we won't be using ice maker but I find it very handy and easy to clean.

      • How do you fill yours? Do you take a container out and then plug it back in full? or do you fill a out and up it up? I was doing the latter but it was a pain so I am now doing the former, but I am thinking of buying a piece of hose to make the job easier and saving wear on the valve

        • One of the kids just takes it out to fill it when needed.

    • Samsung, you can get a pipe connected or tank version for the ice

      We have direct pipe connected

Works a treat, never missed a beat, only rip off is the genuine water filters which last about 12 months

      • That reminds me, my filter is due for a change… 3 years 😯

        • Reminds me of my ducted heating/cooling…. 3 years also….

      • You can get aftermarket filters on eBay for ten to fifteen bucks, and bunnings has reputable ones but not sure how much they are as picked them up on sale for 2 bucks each. They are just a basic inline filter so nothing special from what I can tell (unless someone who knows more about this topic wants to correct me)

        • These are not inline water filters [sadly] they are inside the fridge, easy to get at, but a rip all the same

          https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jjrBZGMEjYI

          • @8200: Ah I dodmt notice that, a friend of mine has that fridge, I have the model one smaller (mine is 638L I think), with main difference being mine does not havr plumbed water dispensing (its a tank) and thr ice machine is inside the freezer. The filter has a clip on the back of the fridge but it could be put anywhere really as it just has a standard connector on each end

    • I love this one.. looks great and 3-star rated

      https://www.appliancesonline.com.au/electrolux-ehe6899ba-689…

    • Check out the Beko BFR range.

  • Great fridges. I got the 650l version maybe a year ago because the bigger one wouldn't have enough clearance for heat dissipation for us.

  • +9

Did anyone skim past and double take because it looked like a deal for a $2000 car… O.o

    • 2k for a brand new car? Bargain.

    • Yep. Lol, especially when there is a van called a Mitsubishi Grandis.

    • Yep - putting the word “fridge” in the title would be helpful

  • +1

Been doing quite a bit of research on these 2 models and seem to have exceptionally positive reviews. Seems the grande (height 1820 mm a big issue for some including me) is a run-out of previous model; not sure about the ‘mini’. Both seem to have same freezer space with differing fridge heights/volumes. Major downsides appear to be easy denting, some issue with left door flap (requiring warranty repair) and lack of external ice dispenser (plus for many without plumbing). People rave about quietness. Good warranty.

    • +4

Yep - only difference between the two is the grande has effectively an extra shelf. Manual ice maker with no plumbing was a plus for me - no filter to replace, easy to keep clean, more space inside etc. Very occasionally the flap on the left door (if opened very slowly) doesn't quite flip open fully and can stop the door from closing if the right door is closed first. I can imagine it being damaged if someone tried to force the left door closed. The digital temp display only shows what you have set the fridge to, not what it actually is. It is very quiet, holds a lot, is bright inside, magnets stick to it, and veggies & fruit keep well. Overall we reckon it's a fantastic fridge/freezer.

    • But poor review in CHOICE Dec18

    • I'm not sure why fridges are not taller.

      950mm is wide.

I'd be happy to buy a fridge that is 2200mm tall.

      • I'd be happy to buy a fridge that is 2200mm tall.

Could be a problem for the vertically challenged to get stuff out of the top of the fridge if that where the case. Just saying.

        • True, but consider that most overhead cupboards are higher than 2200mm.

          • @JimB: Also true. However you are more like to get something out of the fridge more often than what is at the top cupboard.

  • +1

Both seem to be available at Domayne also (delivery only, stainless steel only). (https://www.domayne.com.au/mitsubishi-electric-710-litre-l4-grande-french-door-fridge-stainless-steel.html]. Presume could use AMEX for additional $150 saving.

    • Or 2 amex's to get $300 off

      • +1

        Or 3 amex's to get $450 off. Oh whoops….

    • How do you pay using 2 amex cards online?

      • Don't think there is any way to pay via 2 Amex cards online.

  • Pretty good fridge with inverted compressor. I ordered the 710l at HN but none of the stores have the stock so in the end they send me the 650l. Not perfect match my space but I have to say this fridge is awesome.

  • Good fridge I have the 650l doors do dent super easily

  • +4

I have had the 710L version for about 3 yrs now.
    Pros..
Uses noticeably less power than the single door fridge 1/2 it's size it replaced.
    Very quiet.
Veggies do keep longer, so there must be something in that amber light?

    Cons..
    Does dint easily.

No problem at all with the door flap mentioned above.
One of the led lights did fail shortly after install but that was replaced with no fuss under Mitsu warranty. They are user replaceable but a tech was sent out anyway.

Back when I bought it the going price was around $2800 so this is a bargain.
I would definitely buy one again.

    • agree with above. I've had the fridge 3 years as well. paid $2600 delivered
funny i too had led strip fail within a couple of weeks also had sealant on right freezer top come off replaced very quick

most recently had top right freezer drawer break. replaced no questions asked. I contact them through facebook messenger so all my previous contact is there

      5 year warranty is awesome!

    • I have the black model and mine doesnt have a single ding in it after 3 years, even with kids running around it. Maybe i'm lucky but i have heard a few things give it a fair whack and gone to check and its looked fine afterwards.

  • Grande - I thought it was a car at first

  • +1

This is an awesome fridge and I have been using it for last 3 years and very happy with it.i have grande one and it's really large and very economical to run

  • As someone who owns the Mitsubishi mr ex562 fridge, let me just say dem Japanese know how to build a quality fridge. 9/7 would continue using.

    • i think this one might be made in thailand but not 100% sure

          I already did

He is referring to earth shaker from a game called Dota 2

      • Expensive & snobby

        • I noticed they do list full RRP, but they will never walk away from a deal, and beat every price i got elsewhere

  • +1

Why is this on clearance ? Is it marked to be replaced with a newer version? Or, simply being discontinued (because not popular enough ?)?

    .

  • We've had the 710L model for a few years now and paid significantly more than this and still say its one of the best purchases i've ever made, it runs like a dream and is by far the best fridge i've ever owned. If you're on the fence about the size (these do not fit through regular sized doors when assembled), the front doors can unscrew from the frame to allow it to fit into your home.

  • made in japan or china? Japanese assembled are expensive.

  • I one of them at boxing day sales for $1620 i love it.

  • +1

Got the smaller one (650L) and it works great…It also suits my kitchen cabinet comfortably with only 1700mm unlike most others of this capacity which are around 1800mm

    Thanks
