Decathlon and Genesis Health & Fitness (both in Box Hill South) have teamed up to offer a free 3 month full gym membership to Genesis Box Hill South for customers of Decathlon Box Hill South.

How to redeem:

1. Make any purchase from Decathlon Box Hill South. Go through the self-serve and pick up a voucher at the self-serve registers.
2. Present the voucher to the front desk at Genesis Health & Fitness Box Hill South and sign up for a free 3 month full gym membership. You will gain 24/7 access to the gym and access to group fitness classes.

  Be veeeeery careful with what you sign with Genesis, don't be surprised if they push you to join for a full year when you meet them.

  I know everyone's experience would be different but my experience thus far has been positive.

  • Walked in, presented the voucher, and asked if they could tell me a bit more about it. Was told there's no catch, free 3 month membership with access to group fitness classes. Asked if there was any joining fee and told no cost involved. Signed up, given a keytag, and then given a quick tour of the facilities.

  • Plenty of car parks available - could be due to holiday period? It's said there's 450 car parks available within 50m of the front door.

  • Haven't received any emails from them yet but I signed up with my general email for non-important stuff.

  • The gym itself - decent-sized. 4 benching areas + 2 or 3 smith machines. 6 flat/incline benches in front of the dumbbells. 3 free-weight bars for deadlifts. 4 rowers, lots of treadmills, steppers, cycles, cycle-room, steam room…

  Final thoughts:
  - Free 3 month full gym membership is pretty good. I expect them to try and sign me up after my 3 months are up - if they didn't they wouldn't be doing their job.
  - There are other gyms around with newer equipment/facilities however I never think to myself I wish I was at another gym with better facilities.
  - Genesis Box Hill South no where near as pushy as Fitness First Malvern East, Glen Waverley, or Doncaster (multiple phone calls and SMS).

  No need for purchase now, they have piles of those flyers around the store. Just walked in and grabbed one!

  They used to just be at the self-serve counters and although there never was a required purchase it depended on how shameless you were to just walk through and grab one without making a purchase (and the flyer mentioned customers of Decathlon etc). Otherwise I would've made the post a freebie.

  Been a member for 14 days and managed to go for 11 days so far.
