    What about the Xr?

      • +13

Looks like a cheap comment sold as a fact. No thanks

      • -6

Lol, that can easily be said about the entire iPhone range

      • I dont think they compromised too badly on the XR to be honest. Its still overpriced for what it is but thats just Apple in general. For the most part to the average Joe it walks and talks just like the XS devices. Its too bad the more expensive models didnt have wider colour choice.

XR at the end of the day is a great phone
but it's just not priced right.

64gb version should really be under 1k.

  • -4

    Too expensive for me :(

    • +8

      Then don’t buy it

      • +1

        Such cheek.

      • thats it

Does officeworks price beat eBay coupons?

  • +8

Heh my phone costs more than my Corolla.

    • +15

This is a premium phone. Your car is like a budget android phone.

Jeaus can these comments please stop already

    • +1

Wow get your priorities right lol

  • Hi
    When is this promotion finish?

My flight still 62 days to go 😅

    • Starts 10am AEDT Dec 26. Ends at eBay's discretion.

      Good luck!

      • Store shows as 78% sold so I think their available stock at that price might sell out quickly given that new model Aust stock iphones at 10% off are a rarity.

        • +1

I bought a 256gb Xs model for $1617 from them a week ago. Quick delivery and probably the cheapest price you can get from any legitimate store at the moment. Would recommend

          • @kooljohn: Yeah. They do express deliveries and it only took 1 day to arrive from Sydney to Melbourne

    • Don't forget that if you claim the TRS refund for goods totalling over $900 then you need to declare all of these goods on your incoming passenger card and you are liable (if asked) to repay the GST refund back on the goods claimed under the TRS.

The value of goods can be shared across passengers travelling together.

  • Why not get an iPhone X (OLED) instead of the XR? What's missing?

    • +4

XR - bigger screen, newer/faster processor, alumin chassis. cheaper.

X - better screen, better camera, ss chassis. more expensive.

      • Also x has more pixels if you want to watch 1080p video or above

  • This or pixel 3 ?

    • +4

Depends if you need android or iOS. This will last longer, have better support, battery replacement program, holds value better so cheaper in long run, better battery life. Pixel has a slightly better camera.

      • -5

        Thanks for the laugh

    • +1

This. I want a Pixel 3 but it's not worth the price right now.

I'd be weary of Apple products from 3rd party sellers when it comes to warranty >12 months. They really seem to be pushing their AppleCare+ product in that if you buy a product without it, you only get 12months "limited warranty" and then some blurb about Australian Consumer Law. Their policy implies any issues >12months go back to the person you purchased from.

    https://www.apple.com/au/legal/statutory-warranty/

A reasonable period from date of delivery until the failure becomes apparent

Without limiting consumers’ rights, Apple will provide its own remedies equivalent to those remedies in the consumer guarantee provisions of the Australian Consumer Law at any time within 24 months of the date of purchase. For the avoidance of doubt, Apple acknowledges that the Australian Consumer Law may provide for remedies beyond 24 months for a number of its products.

Who to contact to make a claim
    The seller

I had a recent experience with a Senior Apple support adviser regarding some issues with the phone and because the phone was >12months old but <24months, I had no "warranty" and they would quote me regarding repair costs. Its seriously made me think twice about purchasing another Apple product.

Not sure how stringently this is actually being enforced but it does seem to be their policy and this guy I was speaking to seemed to be towing the company line.

Surprisingly Samsung (of all manufacturers) on the hand had a very clear 24month warranty period. No mention of ACL or other nonsense.

    https://www.samsung.com/au/support/warranty/

Again Apple makes some nice phones, but their warranty stance makes me very uneasy at the moment given their higher cost.

LOL - as long as you are buying Australian stock (as this deal is) it makes zero difference.

ACCC took action against Apple last year to clarify this very point and have reached an agreement on it that includes the statement on Apples website that you quoted. The summary of the Apple/ACCC dispute is here:
      https://www.accc.gov.au/media-release/accc-takes-action-agai…

That 'Senior apple support adviser' you quoted was in clear breach of the ACCC agreement and ACL if he did indeed state what you say he stated. Any new Australian stock Apple phone most definitely DOES have 'warranty' after 12 months, by law . REGARDLESS of which retailer they purchased it from. The only difference is that if you buy from MobileCiti then you need to go back to them (as the retailer) to exercise your full warranty rights and they will negotiate for you with Apple.

      • +2

Yup and if your eBay seller is no longer in business then you're SOL. Samsung is a straight 24 months which I found surprising.

The ACCC link you posted doesn't seem to be showing for some reason.

        • +1

I bought from Shopmonk last year and the phone bricked in 13th month. Been trying everyway to get a repair or replacement. The online seller is gone out of business, apple wont help because it’s passed 12 months.

I am on my own with a brick at home

          • @b0b0: Have you tried a DFU restore etc? Or is the mainboard cooked?

            • @BargainKen: Thanks for reaching out. DFU could not complete because the phone restarts itself half way through the process. Apple AU confirmed the motherboard is dead and only way is to get a replacement.

My wife has only been using this phone for a year for instagram, Facebook and whatsapp, zero gaming but motherboard is cooked :(

              • @b0b0: That sucks, if appealing to Apple doesnt go anywhere I guess you could try selling it for parts? Other options is finding someone who can do board level repairs and replace faulty component.

What phone was it out of interest? Assuming it wasnt due to user-damage (like being dropped etc) Some iPhones sometimes have common issues for which Apple initiate a recall to get fixed
e.g iPhone 7 Audio IC issue which flexes due to the location of the chip and a weakness in the chassis
iPhone 8 Logic board problem etc

                https://www.apple.com/support/iphone-8-logic-board-replaceme…

Sometimes issues start as anomalies like freezing/rebooting which you can shrug off with a reboot but can develop to the point where the device will no longer boot. Worth checking out.

                • @BargainKen: The phone was an iPhone 8 Plus, purchased on October 2017. The issue wasn’t due to physical damage but It does sound like a logic board issue that you posted. I will put in my serial number and speak to Apple about this. Thank you very much for that!

                  • @b0b0: The website says it doesn’t affect iPhone 8 Plus models.. Baka! But it appears to be similar issue

  • Delete duplicate comment.

  • Shame there is no 265gb variant. It's the sweet spot for me

  • Is pickup possible after using eBay coupon .. don't trust such an expensive purchase in the mail in case it gets left at my doorstep

    • You can do click and collect but it will likely get taken to the post office if your not home to receive it anyway

  • +1

OW price beat it for me on the 256GB space grey in Browns Plains QLD. Nearly no stock left though.

    https://imgur.com/a/wpN2Pdl

    • I thought they don’t price match a voucher?

      • I thought the same thing. Care to explain how you got it?

        • +1

Just asked the manager and he agreed to it. He asked to see the listing and making sure it's proper AU stock. I guess it depends on the people you talk to.

  • Why no 256gb XS? :(

  • +1

All sold out except the XS Max 512GB.

  • So is this really that great a deal compared to RRP? How likely is there to be other deals like this?

  • Has anyone that bought one had it dispatched yet?
I purchased xs 512Gb on boxing day but still nothing has been dispatched.

  • Noob question: Can i buy this using ebay gift card?
