The Nova 3i is a GREAT phone, I only upgraded to the P20 Pro as I wanted a slightly better camera. It has everything I needed, great battery life, looks good, big screen and is very light. Fingerprint sensor at the back is very convenient.

I so badly want to try LG again but after they screwed me over with the boot loop fiasco on the G4 I just can't do it. I wonder if LG are aware how much future business their handling of boot loops cost them?

    Sigh…

    • If it means anything, my G6 has been fantastic without any issues

    • I read many reviews on the G7 and it was my phone of choice if many wasn't an issue at the time. My G3 had the bootloop issue but I'm positive they've fixed that by now.

bigger issue was 9 mths after their commitment date they finally delivered Oreo for the V20 last week for Australia models, the V20 is great hardware, no issues for day to day use, but old on security patches, the week before I bought Nokia 7 plus and am now on Pie …. companies need to get their act together for timely updates.

    • I had a G4 that suffered the dreaded boot loop right at the end of contract so swapped it out for a G5. Never had an issue with that phone and it copped a heap of abuse. Really want a G7 but not sure if I should just wait it out for the next model.

  • Are all of Kogan's stock AU stock now that Gerry tax is here? Have they switched to being an AU retailer?

Also, what does ThinQ mean? It doesn't seem to be a range, but a suffix added to some of their lines.

I like V30 except it is 2017's model, and the V40 has a notch which is too distracting to ignore.

    • No, not all, but the ones I posted are.

I'm pretty sure it's just "Think" with a Q. Some weird marketing..

Nothing wrong with a 2017 model, a good phone is a good phone. A lot cheaper than recent deals which got many + votes.

      • yeah, 2017 is OK as long as you get the android version you want to use.

    • the notch is there so that they can use the extra pixels to the left and right for more information, and so allow 1080p viewable and notifications to the left and right of the notch.

There are configurations that remove the notch and blank it out to the left and right but then you get less information for the same screen size, eg alarms, missed called, low battery, SMS, etc, all displayed in the area to the left and right of the notch..

My Nokia 7 plus doesn't have a notch but that has made it a longer phone so they can display same amount of into, I'd rather notch, same amount of into and smaller phone.

      • but then you get less information for the same screen size, eg alarms, missed called, low battery, SMS, etc, all displayed in the area to the left and right of the notch..

Will that info be pushed down below the notch, or is it missing completely?

My Nokia 7 plus doesn't have a notch but that has made it a longer phone so they can display same amount of into, I'd rather notch, same amount of into and smaller phone.

To each their own, but I'd rather it be slightly longer which let's be real isn't that much longer. Having it slightly shorter means there's an eyesore that my eyes will gravitate towards like when you know you have a dead pixel on your screen and can't stop locating it. You keep looking for it in hopes that it has disappeared but it never does.

Another thing I dislike is the curved corners. They cut out some pixels in the corners so if your video is the full screen ratio, you actually lose some information. But every manufacturer does this.

    • I recently bought their v35 unlocked version
I think it is by far the best LG device. 2018 specs,no notch, oled screen, HiFi jack,6gb of ram

      • Looks like the phone to get. If you can find it for a good price.

It has all the things that matter. If the DAC and AMP are as good as V30, should be perfect.

Seems to have same specs as V40. Don't know why I'd never heard of V35 till now.

        • Yes it is a solid device, only 400aud

          • @chaseliu913: Wow that is cheap. Significantly cheaper than the two phones here, and it is a newer model than V30.

      • Where did you get the V35 from?

        • I got it from a phone dealer, you can find it on eBay b&h or Amazon.i think bh had a good deal before

  • No TRS?

    • Everything electronic has GST so you can claim it. Just tell them Gerry sent you.
