  • Why this brand so much cheaper than shell, valvolin and the rest?

    • +1

You pay premium for a brand name. Oil is oil

      • +2

        Oils ain't oils

        • -4

Different viscosity etc.. but everything else the same

    • Will this go inside my 2016MY WRX??

      • +12

Will this go inside my 2016MY WRX??

Better in the engine where the oil is supposed to go.

      • +2

5W-30 recommended for the 2016 WRX 2.0 and 2.5 STi according to Nulon lube guide.

        http://www.datateck.com.au/lube/NulonAus/

        In other words, yes.

      • Better use 20W50 for wrx

    • Valvolin, you know what I mean.

  • +2

Good deal for a full synthetic oil. Thanks OP.

  • +3

The problem with deals like this is stock is very limited or no stock at all. Good luck to those hunting for it in stores.

    • Yep, there will be 30 odd bottles at each store, so unless you're there in the first hour after opening, you'll miss out. Maybe they'll do a raincheck

  • How does this compare to the ozbargain famous castrol edge 5w-30?

    • +3

$14 less than the typical Castrol price. The best oil is the one you change regularly!

  • +2

How does this compare to Moro?

    • +1

Will let you know once I’ve tried it.

    • +1

Extra virgin cold pressed is better for the life of the engine. Apparently if you use that, you can skip every alternate service.

      • +3

You'll be skipping all services on that engine from there on.

    • +2

      This is better for salads

  • Omg this is cheaper than olive oil

    • And tastes better to boot!

      • Oh yeah baby!

  • OH right…time to fill my garage shelf

  • +1

Thanks OP. I need 6L one. But it's still a great bargain.

    • Wait for tomorrow - $34.99 at Supercheap Auto.

  • Hmm, 10-40 is recommended for my Swift but I'm sure this can't hurt (and the lower viscosity should translate into slightly greater fuel economy).

    • Isn't the difference between 5w and 10w only for start up protection?

    • +2

I'd always go with what is suggested on the Nulon Lube Guide rather than getting excited about saving some money on oil and running something thinner than recommended.

    • Swift requires 15w40

  • Pretty good stuff. For the price you can't go wrong.

  • Just ordered 2 for delivery.

Can't click and collect and I'm sure the stores will sell out super quick.

With delivery it's still a ripper price- $48 for 10L.

I use it in my turbocharged Volvo.. non problems with it.

  • Can anyone please confirm whether this is suitable for Peugeot 308 year 2009 1.6 turbo?

The engine oil approved for my car is shown below:
Peugeot PSA B71 2290 approved oil. Mobil 1™ ESP Formula 5W-30 is a fully synthetic low ash oil that has been approved by Peugeot as a PSA B71 2290 oil.

    • Edit - Just saw the "low ash". Is it a 1.6L turbo diesel?

    • +2

Peugeot/Citroën engine oil specification introduced in 2009. B71 2290 is a low-SAPS oil intended for engines with diesel particulate filters and with Euro 5 emission standards. General specifications are: ACEA C2 or C3 with additional PSA tests.

You obviously have the diesel. Don’t use this oil - it will kill your DPF. Stick with the recommended lube.

  • Syn. is NOT needed in a normal vehicle, but really its the same prices as mineral, so good buying!

    • +2

Many vehicles can run on either, but I think it's now been pretty well established that synthetics perform better and run cleaner than mineral oils in most circumstances.

  • -3

can't do pickup and by the time you add delivery, it is more expensive than Costco..

    not a good deal.

    • +1

Not everyone has a Costco membership.

  • Gonna risk it and go to the store first thing tomorrow. Every store supposedly has limited stock.

  • Just ordered 2 online with $8 home delivery. Not going to risk waiting till tomorrow and fighting boxing day traffic…

  • Will this work on 2000 CE Lancer 1.8L? I have used Penrite HPR 10W-50 so far.

    • I use 20W50 in my lancer

      • Is not that too thick for winter?

  • Does it have any shelf life? If it does how long can I store it for before use?

    • +1

No, as long as you like in a sealed container

  • Is it available in Super Cheap Auto and would they price match?

  • Got a couple of these. Plenty in store Philip Island - Cowes store.

  • I was able to get 6L pack of this oil for $19.99 pickup at Mount Druitt Autobarn. They had few in stock.

    • 5L or 6L?

      Can you share receipt please?

      • My bad it is 5L I accidentally picked up one 5 & other 6L bottle.

  • Get it delivered home to get one

  • +1

Thanks Op, got 4 from Super Cheap Auto for $72 which included 10% discounted Gift card

  • Has anyone being able to C & C , or is it in store and delivery only?

  • Still quite a few bottles in the Osborne Park store..

  • Check your local store guys. Mount Druitt is saying no stock online but they had more than 50 bottles within store.

  • Email received yesterday.

    Dear Autobarn Customer,

Thank you for your recent purchase of the NULON ENGINE OIL LONGLIFE 5W30 5L (SKU: OA02310) from our online store.

Due to an unprecedented or unexpected response to our Christmas Sale, we have unfortunately ran out of stock of this item in our Nunawading, Victoria warehouse.

    BUT, don’t worry….

We will need to wait for a shipment from our supplier but will still ship this item to you at the very low price it was purchased.

    Unfortunately….

The Nulon offices are closed for the Christmas break and we are unable to place our replenishment order until January 7th. As such, we expect the shipment to be received into our warehouse in the days following this and will then do our very best ship the goods to our customers ASAP.

We recognise this is not an ideal customer experience and sincerely apologise for this delay and any inconvenience caused.

Please advise if you would prefer to wait for your order or would like to be refunded.

Have a great New Year’s Eve and even better 2019!

    Regards

    Doug | Autobarn Online Team

Fantastic customer service there. No offers for the inconvenience; just wait or refund. If only they could have predicated that selling a widely-used oil at less than half the regular price would have resulted in high demand. /s
