ASRock Fatal1ty H370 Performance (LGA 1151) ATX Motherboard $115 C&C or + Delivery @ Umart

220

I bought this board when it was $128 and thought it was a fantastic deal.

Now it's $115 and I'm not even mad. This board cannot be beat for value if you're building an Intel gaming system at the moment. Pair with an i5 8400.

It is the cheapest Intel board on the market with Realtek ALC1220 audio. RGB is just icing on the cake. 👌 If you require both those features and Intel Ethernet the next cheapest you will find is the ASUS ROG STRIX B360-G GAMING which is around $50 more.

  • is it worth waiting for a 10th gen board and buying an appropriate CPU with it? i'm on a gen 4 i5 and I need to upgrade so my 1080 doesnt bottleneck me.

  • Would like to build a new Gaming PC soon that handles the Oculus Rift and heavy Photoshop processing, but as with most people I need to do it as cheap as I can, but still have good specs.
I have no PC building experience, but willing to learn and try.

Current specs are as follows and all parts except the GTX 1080 are about 5-6 years old with daily use.
    Intel Z87 Chipset Motherboard
    MSI GTX 1080 Gaming X
    Thermaltake Smart Power 650W
    i7-4770 Processor
    32GB DDR3 1600MHz
    Seagate 500gb SSD
    Windows 10 -64 bit

Should I jump on a board like this and grab an i7 processor when a good price comes up?
Assuming I can just migrate the existing ram and power supply for the time being, with a
Any tips and advice would be appreciated.

    Thanks everyone.

    • Worth considering Ryzen CPUs too for heavy load, the 2700 is around $400 and has 8 cores.

You can use the same PSU for the time being, but Ram is now DDR4, so yours won't work (I don't believe it will physically fit).

  • any good deals on i3 or i5 cpus for this?

  • Asus ROG Strix B360-G Gaming LGA 1151 mATX Motherboard is currently $159, is it worth the $40 more?

    • No, it has a worse VRM design, less expansion and loses a M.2 E-key WiFi slot. Only worth if you need the mATX form factor.

I only mentioned that ASUS board because a few months ago I was building a PC with the requirements it has ALC1220 audio, Intel Ethernet and RGB and it was the cheapest at the time that met those criteria. The ASRock was more expensive then.
