  I never got the obsession with touch screen head units. Just makes it harder to navigate without physical buttons.

    I have a car with each option, and personally want to upgrade the non touch to one after having Android Auto.
    Having Spotify and Google Maps is enough for me to upgrade.

  A few questions for anybody that has one…

  • Does it come with, or can I add DAB+?
  • In the video, the driver needs to press the MIC icon to use Google Assistant, does 'OK Google' not work?
  • Is USB needed for Android Auto? Is it not enough to have my phone in my pocket with Bluetooth enabled?
  • Can it remember/connect to two phones via Bluetooth?
  • Does it support video out (to play movies on headrest for kids in the back)

  Where is everybody getting the wiring harness and dash surrounds as well?

    Wow I didn't realise it had an included amp, that is a good price, but yeah same issue for me too when adding to cart.

  Never again. Never again will i buy a pioneer. Ive had both AVIC-F70DAB and they replaced it with a AVIC-F80DAB. The carplay facility is unreliable and frustrating. Errors out or locks up or reboots. Frequently have to stop my car turn the engine off and start the car again to get the deck to reset.

  Before you offer the usual suggestions (eg delay start blah blah) we have tried it all (eg the installer and I) and its just crap unreliable. Can't speak to android auto it might be good on that.

  Yep I've had 2 Pioneers as well. Both normal head units. No touch screen. one was causing excessive noise, other one had issues with Bluetooth connection. Tried everything even down to fimware updates and still no go. Swapped it for a Kenwood. No issues what so ever and no noise.

  That's an absolutely absurd RRP, and even @ $420 it's overpriced for a refurb. The Sony touch screens are a better buy than these.

    Yeah Sony's UI seems a lot cleaner and snappier to use. I've been eyeing the AX5000 for a while now, just waiting for a decent deal. Hopefully boxing day comes through with a decent deal somewhere!
