I know next to nothing about this so I probably shouldn't talk, but word around here is that your best option is to either buy a GoPro Hero 2018 and reflash it to make it a GoPro Black 5, saving yourself $100 off this price, or, pay twice as much and get a GoPro Black 7, which has built in image stabilization (videos are so much easier to watch when they don't jerk all over the place)
Thanks man, I might just cop the black 7 then. I'll wait till next year to find out what my exact trips will be and decide if I should get a gopro or just get a mirrorless camera.

Planning on backpacking around aus and later around the world next year and would love to record it all.
