This is a great price for the DJI Pocket 2.

It is not the current model (Pocket 3) but is still great. The Pocket 3 is about $849.00 and for less than half you get a TINY capable 4K device.

I would prefer the Pocket 3 but it is too big for me when traveling. The Pocket 2 really fits in your pocket easily and weighs about 117g! It is fantastic!

EXTRA BONUS:
This unit comes from Amazon Japan via Amazon Australia, therefore it is the International model. What this means is that you can purchase the DJI Care Refresh warranty via the DJI Japan website and - paying in JPY via Paypal - you get a 2 Year plan for $67 instead of the local DJI cost of $79.00 for this unit. The purchase is made online by entering your Pocket 2 serial number, filling in some details, your name and email is the most important information, and then the plan is activated immediately and attached to your device.

The Care Refresh plan is a Global warranty, that simply requires you to send the device in to your local DJI Support office in which ever country you happen to be in. This is great for international travel.

BUT THERE IS MORE:
If you do need to replace your device in this program (and you can replace it up to 4 times with this 2 year plan), you pay JPY 3,900 which is about $39.00 AUD and not $49.00 that is charged if you purchased the plan from DJI Australia. And this amount is valid for the full 2 year term.

I hope this helps those interested in getting the DJI Pocket 2.

By the way, unlike Amazon Germany which packs their international packages terribly (usually in a paper bag even for expensive items - their postage service must be superior in their careful handling compared to our Australia Post which almost every time damaged by packages - all care and no responsibility policy), the Amazon Japan packaging was superb, must better than our Amazon Australia.

Enjoy!

Awesome little unit. Still use mine for BTS content at shoots.

    • Do you use ND filters with it? Any advice you have would be appreciated.

      • Nope; no need. Does everything I need from a BTS perspective. What would be your reason for wanting to use an ND filter? I’m always curious as to why people use them.

        • If the scene is bright, it lets the shutter slow down for more 'natural blur'. (More Control over aperture, shutter speed, iso, etc)

I never really understood them in this age; motion blur is something you CAN reliably add in post.

I occasionally use an ND4 or CPL just to gain a stop or two, as I find colours can suffer in direct full brightness light, but thats about all.

FYI may only be relevant to Android - according to reviews, the MIMI app to activate the device on mobile phones needs to be done through a mobile phone (cannot be done via software on PC(?)). The app has been decommissioned in a number of countries, and the older app may not be compatible with all phones.

Just double check that you can download the app from either Play Store or an APK from the DJI website and that it works with your phone.

How to Download DJI Mimo on Android

Unfortunately, downloading DJI apps including DJI Mimo on Android is not as straightforward as it is on iOS. Due to DJI apps not being listed on the Google Play store, users will need to download the DJI Mimo app (and all other DJI apps) via the DJI Download Centre. Don’t worry though, all this requires is one extra step.

Before you begin, make sure that your Android smartphone is officially supported by DJI. DJI Mimo requires Android 8.0 or above to operate. You can find out if your phone is compatible with the DJI Mimo here.

Once you’ve confirmed that your phone is compatible, simply visit the DJI Download Centre via your smartphone browser here and download the DJI Mimo app file. Note that you’ll likely also need to permit the Mimo app to access your phone and files. Once this has been done via the settings, Mimo should run smoothly

      Thanks Lucille.

To add to this post, the DJI Pocket 2 box has a QR code which sends your Android to download and install the APK Mimo app. It all worked seamlessly. Not a problem.

  • Sorry, noob question; just started planning to get one of these cam. What's the difference between this and the Osmo Action 4 in terms of tech spec? Is it worth the price difference? I'm looking to get one of these for my family trip overseas. Thanks!

    • For low light/night shooting, the image quality difference is staggering. The Pocket 2 is so much better.

    • I own both.

Moving in actual darkness? These are worlds better.

Filming at dusk? The action 4 locked to a minimum 1/100 shutter is acceptable. A few 'floating orbs' near lights if you walk, but locking the shutter faster helps a lot.
1/200 practically eliminates them and is very 'human eye' natural darkness at autoiso. Fine if you're at a night event with spaced lighting and you'd like it to look 'real'.

If you're stationary, the gap narrows.

In the real world, the Action 4 being 'tough' is a huge draw. Pocket it, ignore rain, drop it, etc it wont care.
      The pocket? Very delicate.

There's also a bit of a knack to a gimbal. So if you plan to just 'aim the camera at the thing', the Action 4 on horizon steady mode will fit the bill imo.

Unless theres night work. Night? Pocket.

    Good for OF?

As above, if its low light work, yes.

Otherwise my friend found the Action 4 better since a lot of her content is shower based, so waterproof.

Depends what the main content is I guess.

    • Not sure why people would neg you. It's a fair question

    • Name checks out.

  • Awesome camera

  • I use this for real estate video. Works a treat
