Do any of these come with the power adapter?

    • -3

      Nope

      • WOW. That does suck!

    • +7

      Yes the 2dsxl does

      • +2

Yep checked. That was enough to convince me to go the 2ds XL!

Another $15 less than the 3DS XL.

        • Sold haha. I was on the fence. Sold for the charger I’ll never open and use anyways

  • +4

That Poke Ball edition, so cute. Bought!

    Thanks OP

  • +5

Bought the 3DS XL for $169 last sale. Gonna buy this and return the old order with the new console. #ozbargain

    • Does amazon have price guarantee policy…

      • Yeah, i did the same thing. I dont think they do, i checked and on return it asks for a reason "found cheaper price somewhere else". Please tell us where you found the cheaper price "amazon". hah. Would be easier for them just to offer a price guarantee…

    • Why the neg anon?

  • Thanks OP - just purchased the 3DS XL and also 2DS XL. I'm not sure which one to give to my fiance for Christmas!

  • +2

haard to resist… omg.. but must resist!

  • +1

    Good price!

  • +1

Thanks OP! Got the Pokeball edition. Time to buy some games.

  • +5

Great post! Thanks ozbargainers. Really didnt need one, but who can resist at $99??

    Any must own games?

    • +5

Super Mario 3D Land, Fire Emblem Awakening, Metroid: Samus Returns, The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds and Donkey Kong Country Returns - should be enough to get you started.

      • +2

A few of these are Nintendo selects and on sale for $25 at Big W, well worth it!

    • I didn't need one but I ended up buying two..

    • +1

standard nintendo first party games, marios, zelda's,mario karts, pokemon and such, fire emblem rpgs, monster hunter games, bravely default games, Professor Layton , phenix wright games, xenoblade

pretty much if you enjoy anything nintendo franchise related or RPG's you'll have a good time

    • Nor mentioned - Luigi's Mansion, Smash Bros, Mario Kart 7.

    • Metacritic is a good resource for finding great games for a system. Here are some rankings of the best 3DS titles according to industry critics and metacritic users. Anything near the top of either list can be considered worth your time, particularly if you're a fan of the genre.

There are lots of great download-only titles too. I recommend both LoZ Oracle of Ages/Oracle of Seasons games and Pokemon Puzzle Challenge, which is a portable remake of Tetris Attack, including the thoroughly excellent puzzle mode levels.

  • THANKS OP

  • Cracker of a deal, OP. Shame I already bought one earlier this year.

    • +1

I bought a blue secondhand one for $70 a few weeks back. Mod it and have a 128GB MicroSD card in it for Homebrew. Great little device!!

  • Can these Play old DS games? I still have a few gameboys and GBA, GBA SP, etc…hmm do I need one more?

    • They can play DS games.

  • 2DS XL OZBARGAINED!!!

    • No it's not… still on 55%.

    • +2

If you've bought the 2ds, the price goes back up for your account

      • that make sense, anyway it is 99% claimed now

  • Is the 3D XL the latest version of the 3D XL?

  • +13

PSA: The 2DS XL does include a charger, whereas the 3DS XL does not.

  • Hold on people! It's cheap but the games are expensive and I bet you all have Switches already!

    Expensive paper weight!

    • +11

      cough, cfw, cough…

    • You can't shove a switch in your pocket. Plus there are a lot of DS games out there which aren't on the 3DS.

      • You can run ds games on 3ds.

        • +2

          3 words: Perfect SNES Emulator

          • -1

            @Wiede: Switch homebrew.

            • @Duram: There is no official SNES emulator for Switch?

        • And GBA games, via injection.

      • Doesn't matter for me. I got 2 x DS lite still working. 3DS XL and Switch. At the worst case there's emulator on Android anyway for DS

    • I bought my N3DS XL after my Switch. It's great for extra portability and times where I prefer not to carry my Switch.

And it has an extensive back catalogue - I actually bought it to play emulators on, but I havent even got around to that because there are so many 3DS games to play!

For me, the 2DS/3DS XL is a great complement for the Switch!

    • I have a Switch already and don't play it nearly enough… must resist.

  • Thank you OP!

  • Thanks OP, my 3rd DS from Amazon in under 30 days.

  • +2

Anyone know which firmware version (11.3.0-36 or lower) the 3DS XL would come with?

    • +3

If you're asking for CFW, just update to 11.9.0 (latest) and hack that. No need to stay on lower.

But don't dilly dally, if 12.0.0 comes out before you update, you're back to screwed.

Edit: FYI, all these consoles are probably at least 11.4.0. The PokeBall is 11.5+

      • If we have CFW on 11.6.0, is there a way/need to update to 11.9.0?

        • You already have CFW installed? Did you do it yourself? Cause that method needs a flashcart.

Probably best to leave your system as-is if you didn't do it yourself.

          • @eagerfisherman: I have two N3DS XL actually: one of them, yes I installed CFW myself using a flashcart (the other one, unknowingly, already had CFW pre-installed).

So yes, I have installed CFW myself. But I have never updated the firmware on CFW before, because 11.6.0 was the latest firmware at the time I installed CFW, and I didnt realise there had been more recent firmwares released.

What I am asking is whether there is a need to update the underlying official firmware (eg. for new release game compatibility), or whether that is pointless, and I just need to update the CFW itself.

            • +1

@caprimulgus: Oh I see, no there is no need to update your system OS.

All games currently work with 11.6.

11.9 is known hacked, Nintendo won't bother to have that be required for a new game, they will likely require 12.0 or whatever.

      • Can the 2ds use cfw? Same process as 3ds?

        • Exactly the same. Even when opening settings on the 2ds, the 3ds splash screen comes up.

          • @Forphucsake: Great thanks. I bought the 2dsxl. Hope I made the right decision. Or should I also buy a 3ds lol. Is the speed and graphics the same? And build quality.

            • @k3nnis: relax, there is just one dimension missing rest is same

              • @ozdesi: Ok thanks :)

              • @ozdesi: Possible to DIY without buying anything extra like a flashcart?

      • Awesome, thanks buddy!

  • How much is the official charger for the New 3DS and where can I get it from besides Amazon?

    • You can pick up from most major retailers for ~$15 (same as Amazon AU).

Alternately you can pick up USB Cables from eBay, etc and just use a standard USB Charger to charge your 2DS/3DS.

      • The original charger charges faster than USB cable though

      • Thank you!

  • Thank you op! Amazing deal and even the colours are great!

  • 3DS XL are the only ones left.

    • +1

      nope, 2DS 64% claimed

    • +2

If you've bought the 2ds, the price goes back up for your account

      • Got ya….was shocked to see it go from 50% - gone!

  • are both hackable? :)
    also should i get 2dsxl or 3dsxl???

    • Both are good

    • Yes and 3D is normally a novelty and then turned off, hence the 2DSXL.

  • +2

Interesting to see the 2DS XL outselling the 3DS XL

I suspect the pokeball pikachu is hot property

    • why? Most people turn off 3D anyway.

      • Dunno I enjoyed the 3DS. I'd get the 3DS but I already have one

    • +3

It's cheaper, many people turn off 3D anyway (I know I did) and it comes with a charger.

      • And probably had less stock to begin with.

  • +1

i don't know why i bought this, but i did, and also you can't cancel it anymore…

    • +1

That's the OzB spirit; buy first, question later.

  • +1

Thanks got 1 of each have no idea why i already have a switch and a vita lol

  • +1

If I'm literally buying this for Ocarina of Time, any suggestions as to whether 2d or 3d version is better? Probably won't use 3d much I suspect

    • 3D is better IMO, I k know lots of people turn it off, but it's literally the point of these consoles and the games to use the 3D feature. I use it for hours without issue.

    • The New models have much nicer 3d than in the past, I'd pay the extra.

    • The 3d is amazing for ocarina of time. never played it on a 2d screen so idk how it looks on that, obv not as good though. viewing 2D on a 3ds gives everything weird scanlines.

      • Thanks all, although I decided on the 2ds xl despite the suggestions, mainly because I am concerned that the 3d effect will give me headaches with my dodgy eyes… I'm sure Ocarina of Time will still be great in 2d!

  • +5

Got to stop looking at Ozbargain… that's six purchases from the last 18 hours of deals… great find OP

    • Imagine all the money you've saved!

  • +1

Oh dear that's way too good to pass up. Guess I have a 3ds now

  • what a great replacement for the one the cops broke!

  • +2

Well done OP. One of the all time best deals. Thanks

  • +1

    Thanks OP, got the 2DS

  • Didn't realise there was a pikachu version!! grrr

    • +1

      Doesnt havr the same price!

  • Gotta say my 3ds has been gathering dust since the Switch came out.

    Still a top notch deal

  • Thanks OP! I have two 3DSs already but I couldn't resist the Pokeball Edition for my collection

Did not expect to open Ozbargain and be making an impulse buy today but I'm not mad about it

  • +3

    I don't need one……. bought.

  • +1

thanks man I got the Pokeball 2DS XL, been waiting for this for awhile

  • I bought the 2DSXL.

    Should I also buy the 3DSXL? :)

  • Can i play 2ds titles on 3ds?
