Not a bad price for a single unit especially if you are after extras for your existing system. Not the best price ever since i got one for $ 120 when it was on 20% off sale from TGG. However after that TGG marks it up every single time when on 20% off which makes it even higher than this price.

Does anyone know how this is set up? If you have a modem, do you connect this to the modem wifi signal and it boosts it, or does it need to be plugged in via ethernet from the modem?
If you have multiple google wifi, does the others then run off the wifi signal of the first one?
One a side note - can buy 3 of these from HN and get $50 AMEX cashback, a 3 pack for $352
Can run them either way such that the master can be either wirelessly or Ethernet connected to the other units. Base unit must be connected to your modem via Ethernet. Master unit has not a WAN port and LAN port that can be used.
First unit plugs into router/modem (i put my 1st unit in our granny flat and pushed internet cable out there via my home smart wiring). You have to turn off your router wifi too as Google Wifi replaces that.
First unit gets set up, then others link into it - its VERY simple and takes about 5 minutes.
All mesh units then run off the same Wifi Signal (unlike range extenders which have a different SSID sometimes).
Speeds are outstanding, best unit ive ever purchased…seamless, fast and unobtrusive.
Also looks cool on the shelf….not that its a value add!
Be mindful of how many you need depending on the size of your house.
Bridge your modem, and use these, ideally, connected via Ethernet as wireless mesh access points.
These are so bloody good, we just got them on the weekend and I think I'm in love.
Just price matched in Officeworks. They don't have many stock at the moment so better call before you go. Price comes down to $127.30.
Anyone know how these compare to Ubiquiti? Going to finally ‘fix’ the network at my parents place over the holidays and it’s either this or Ubiquiti UAP-AC (I have one of these myself and it’s been fantastic). House is quite large so will probably need two of either…
Coverage and setup wise it can depend a lot on your physical environment. I think the Ubiquiti option you are looking at is a hub and spoke arrangement, where all the access points need to physically (via LAN cable) ultimately connect back to the master unit. Each of the units has fantastic coverage/strength though.
The Google solution is a true wireless mesh network, where the data can hop wirelessly from one point to the next to get to the "master" access point (plugged into your internet modem). This is handy when dragging cable is difficult, or to span longer distances by putting additional points in along the way.
Thanks for the info 😀. Seeing as I have to some cabling anyway I think I’ll go with the Ubiquiti…
Currently $149 at OW, price match in store?
