probably can get giftcard like before, but not sure

Interested to know if gift cards generate the credit.

      • and if you can use multiple gift cards in one booking.. if anyone has experience with them.

        • +17

You can use multiple gift cards for the same booking. In fact, when you redeem a gift card you get "Luxury Escapes Credits" which is just the money value of your gift card. So you can redeem all the gift cards you have, they accumulate as credits in your account, and you can later spend them all in one transaction/booking.

To do that, you can just put anything in your cart, go to the checkout page, redeem the first gift card, then refresh the checkout page, and redeem again. Repeat that as many times as you want, and all the credit will accumulate in your account. If you don't finish the purchase, you'll just have all the credits in your account, available for a future booking.

There will be a new "stand-alone" redemption process in the near future, so you won't even need to put something in your cart before redeeming the gift card. It will be easier to redeem multiple ones.

    • Amex Offer Terms on the website indicate it Excludes Gift Card purchases.
Full terms document does not specify (that I can see anyway).

      • Doesn't mean that you definitely won't get the credit if you buy a gift card, but also means you might not get the credit if you buy a gift card.

Amex can't usually tell what you buy. Take that as you will.

        • +1

It would be good if someone can confirm that they bought the gift card AND received the Amex credit (not just the email).

          • @SydneySwan: Try it out and let us know?

For other Amex promotions such as the recent Dan Murphy's and David Jones ones, I've gotten gift cards and received the credit. For the Harvey Norman one where I bought an iPad pro even though Apple is excluded in the terms and conditions, I've received the credit on all three Amexes used to pay for the iPad pro.

Up to you whether you want to risk it (and be rewarded) or not (and end up with nothing).

            • @kerfuffle: I have had it confirmed that someone purchased the gift card and received the Amex credit.

  • Is this where everything is marked up in comparison to other sites like Agoda and Expedia?

I'm sure there was another AMEX offer like this a few years ago…

Some of the deals are really good, others so-so, I haven’t seen a bad one yet.

There are also some fairly generous cashbacks.

Ordered a $50 then a $250 GC and got the email for credit.

    You're welcome

    • I emailed them this morning with a desperate plea to "Please consider offering a $300 GC in the drop down menu", to which they responded "Hi, you have to make 2 separate orders of $250 and $50. Thanks".

Thanks for taking one for the team. Glad it worked out.
You really know how to save for Sydney Property.

        Hi @MathNerd

Sorry about that. I can confirm that we have updated our website and added a new Gift Card value to the drop down menu, so now you can buy a $300 GF in a single transaction.
It's already live in our website.

        Cheers.

              Good stuff mate.

  • Anyone know if Cashrewards will approve the cashbacks?
