Just saw msy is offering Acer 8gen i7 with gtx1060 for $1499. I think it is the best value on the market. Other same model is selling around $1699.

Sorry the opposite,I like this style instead of normal all boring blacks. If possible I would like to customise my laptop casing to put different stripes of colours etc
Well general I m talking about the price. Don't think JB have that price on 8gen 1060.
Easily the best price around for this spec.
I bought a Dell gaming laptop Jan this year for $1300ish (OzB deal) - this Acer has better specs for similar price so it’s good value
In General acer make shit laptops with the shortest life. Not sure about this but I've moved on from acer after bad experiences before
What happened?
What is the problem? They are all 12mth warranty right??
Poor build quality and an excessive use of plastic in my experience.
Do you have any issue to claim warranty with Acer in the past?
@Superxxy: Never had to do a warranty claim for them before. ASUS and Toshiba are very very difficult for warranty claim.
As are Samsung for SSDs.
@Clear: Did you try to do it direct to them or through the shop where you bought?
But my Asus last me for around 5 years and it is still working, I have upgrade it with a ssd for my partner to use… Hehe so I am looking for a new replacement for myself… Hahaha..@Superxxy: Direct through work ;) We used to order in batches of hundreds but no more due to very bad experiences.
Issue with ASUS was that they dropped all their authorised repair agents for one small store in Victoria. This meant that repairs took 2-3 weeks to happen and ASUS offered nothing in the meantime to use. They'd even try to refuse a refund/return on DOA - always insisted on the repair agent.
Toshiba was similar, but they have repair agents all over. So it can be a real hit and miss.
@Clear: That is very bad!! Same as Asus in QLD they have only one authorize repair shop. So normally I would go back to where I purchased. and if it is DOA I would ask the shop to provide replacement or refund once they have confirmed the fault in the shop instead going with Asus.
I would also like to know what happen? Which laptop/company do you use now?
Damn, paid $1600 for an i7-7700HQ (admittedly with more RAM) last year…
60hz screen for anyone wondering.
Anyone using a laptop like this for photo and video editing? If so, would you recommend something like this. Im currently using a Dell latitude 6 series CPU, Lightroom is running sluggish.
I think would consider as content editor, something like Asus ux series, MSI ps42 series and hp elite 360.
no offence to the thread. have seen this laptop in jb hi fi store in person, easy the ugliest laptop i've seen for a while. the red axis bar is quite red and shiny. i'm sure it will hurt my eyes a lot. and both its lid and palm rest have this carbon strip texture, which is rather disturbing. can see it if you look at msy's pics a bit closer.
