Castrol Edge DPF 5W-30 LL 5L Engine Oil $45.53 @ Supercheap Auto

180

Pretty good price for this. As far as I'm aware, it's the engine oil VW and Audi dealerships use for quite a few of their vehicles.

Here in Perth Audi uses Mobil One. Bmw were using this one.

    • Interesting to know.

Might depend on the dealership then. My Audi has a Castrol sticker next to the engine oil cap.

  • Good price. The LL standards for 'long life'. Pretty sure you're right about the VW dealers using this stuff. (East coast anyway)

Shouldn't matter what brand you use as long as it's VW 504/507 approved which the LL is. Great price!

  • can i use this for my corolla hatchback

    • Yes but would you ?

      Other cheaper options

  • Good price , waiting for the LL to drop for my Audi

  • Nice.
They even have EDGE 10W 60 for sale $46.79.

    Bought 6 :)

    • curious, for what car?

      • must be an old one.

        • Old one like an BMW M5 V10 or M3 V8 :)

I just got 10l of 507 yesterday, Valvoline for $57 each, Supercheap didn't even have this on the shelf. Oh well.

  • Many thanks OP

  • Great price, thanks OP.

  • I was using 0W-40 Edge DPF, but think this is lot cheaper option.

  • For what it's worth, my "euro specialist" mechanic previously used non-507 oil in my car and I started getting EGR errors which I was constantly clearing. Since using Nulon Euro 507 approved oil I haven't had any of these errors. Highly recommend ensuring your mechanic is using the right oil and ideally you are giving it to them, it will save a bit of money and you know what's going in.

  • I'm not an expert at engine oils but I know enough to be dangerous around and engine. Going by SuperCheap's garage, this oil is not suitable for my Kia Grand Carnival 2006, but this oil is Castrol Edge Engine Oil - 5W-30 5 Litre

Thoughts? I need the oil promptly and this would be a huge saving.

    • Do you still have your owner's manual? It should specify what oil is recommended in there.

      • 10W-30 or 5W-30, I'm going for 5W-30 because 95% of the car use is short runs for school drops offs and two 20km round trips to the shops a week and really doesn't get much time to heat up.

    • You don't need this oil unless you have a diesel that has specific requirements. Typically VWs and some BMWs and MBs. The oil you linked to should be fine, but the "LL" one in this post is not necessary.

      • Thanks Cys! I hate seeing the word "compatable" and not knowing if it means specifically for!

  • Good for my VW Tiguan. Thank you.

  • Been using this in my Holden Cruze for the life of the car, no issues! owned since new,

2014 Holden Cruze 1.4T Petrol with 242,000km on the clock now!
