A few $ more than the last post, but still great value. Deal ends at 9:30pm AEDT (6:30pm WST, 9:00pm ACDT).

Much better description on Neil's post here for the OzB 12th sale when it was $4 less (just wanted to post this ASAP and don't want to copy his amazing post with a full rundown, uncompressed footage etc).

Some key points:

  • Records at 1080p 30fps @ 12mbps (so, approx 6 hours of recording with a 32gb card)
  • Uses super-capacitors rather than a battery for when there is a power cut (so it can close the video file and avoid corruption) - great for the Aussie summers considering the cam will likely be in direct sunlight and lithium doesn't get along with heat…
  • Higher maximum operating temperature at 70c (compared to 60 for a lot of other cameras) - partially related to the previous point
  • Sony IMX323 sensor

I bought one from the last deal and are more than happy with it - easy setup, app works very well and the camera sits nicely on the windscreen.

Would recommend the Sandisk 32GB High-endurance microSD for storage, $15.14 from this post.

EDIT: Sold out @ 6:48

Brilliant! Finally was able to get my hands on one. Thanks donnot!

  • Got it from the previous sales, great cam at great price. Recommended.

  • How does its image quality compare to the VAVA 2K dash cam from this deal?

    that was quick…

  • Great cam, but massive interference with radio stations. Anyone else find this

    • Turn off the Wi-Fi?

      • My advice is not to get too close to the radio antenna, because some people report a conflict between the two wires if they are nearby.

    • Mine works fine with wifi on and radio on 94.5fm

    • Totally ruins my DAB which has its antenna at the back of the car. Must try turning the WiFi off.

  • Hi guys, got one of these in the last deal. Awesome product. However whenever i use the cigarette lighter plug to power the cam, my car DAB loses signals. Anyone else got that issue?

    Cheers.

    • One of the downsides of cheap USB power plugs, plenty of interference :(. Not much you can do apart from going for a better-designed 12V USB car adapter (eg something from Tronsmart/Blitzwolf).

Oh it's from the power cable? Crazy!

        • +1

Yeah the adapter, used to have the same interference issues with those compact $1 car chargers from a looong time ago. Some cars might be able to tolerate it, some won't.

@donnot: The simple fix for interference:

            1. Leave the lighter socket free (for all the smokers to use)
            2. Buy a proper regulated 12-5VDC converter PCB board ($10 max)
            3. Buy/make a small box out of alloy or steel. Mount the converter board safely inside it so that the circuit cannot touch the case.
            4. Mount in the dashboard somewhere. Use a USB extension cable if you want to place the USB socket in a tight spot, and flush mount the connectors firmly in a suitable opening/hole you make in your dashboard.
            5. Wire it into the car's accessory circuit and ground the case.
            6. Enjoy USB power without RF interference.
            • @resisting the urge: That is far cleaner than my current setup :P. I ended up just splicing the long cable that came with the cam, wired a new USB connector on and connected to one of these adapters, and there's no noticeable interference. Will probably try and hide behind the dash at some point though.
