$199.28 including ShopBack cashback. That's the 2nd lowest price ever I think (after that $192 deal a week ago)

Yeah they did. I actually bought it from them a few days ago. $8 wasted lol
Amazon price matching on PC components… Hmmmmm exciting!
I would wait going by AdoredTV rumour. 6 core for less than 180 AUD.
How long will one have to wait?
AMD to announce it on Computex Taipei 2019 event, that happens late May, and it's probably going to be a few (1-2) months before it goes into retail channel. So likely half a year from now.
And why buy then and not wait 6 more months for better things etx
for better things etx
Because the improvements are not linear when it comes to processors. There are times where it actually doesn't make sense to buy a certain generation, you'd actually want to skip it entirely and aim for the next one.
E.g first gen Ryzen users wouldn't buy a Zen+ series since the improvements made to the processor was insignificant. But going from a Zen to Zen 2 would make sense.
And in the past when Intel had a monopoly in the CPU market, it didn't make sense for people to upgrade from Sandy Bridge to anything older than Broadwell, because of how little improvements Intel made.
@scrimshaw: It still doesn't make sense to upgrade from Sandy Bridge. I have a 3570k, and the 2600 is a whopping 8% faster for single threaded performance.
There were rumours the cpus would 'debut', whatever that could mean… At CES which is Jan 8, 2019…
@c0lch3y: debut means announcement I reckon, Ryzen 2000 series came out roughly april/may so I would expect it to be around then as thats the 1 year mark.
@neferseki: Yup, haven't seen anything that goes against a March-May window.
@c0lch3y: The leak had some of the release dates at CES, with some later in the year.
@N1NJ4W4RR10R: they are going to straight up release a product without announcing it at all? Yeah I don't think so. "Debut" does not mean release, it just means the first time the public hear about it from the company themselves.
The rumour has the launch of most chips at CES (eg Jan). The APUs are set at "Q3", and the fastest 16 core chip as "May".
If true it would be VERY early, so maybe a 'launch' but availability later.
Or maybe the rumour is wrong.

Those are announcement dates, which are in line with previous Ryzen launch windows. Identical cadence would put the initial product availability in March-April 2019.
@jasswolf: True, the original Ryzen brand was Dec 2016, with availability in April. So Jan 2019 wouldn't be a shock for an announcement. It would be a shock for availability though.
Thing to note is that they can't hang about too long between announcement and launch now though - since if they announce the leaked specs everyone stops buying Ryzen 1000 & 2000 and waits for 3000.
@sane: The last of 1st gen was flushed out on Black Friday with that 1700x sale, and we're seeing all the 2nd gen sales now.
I'm guessing we'll see 2600x drop below $190 through December-Jan, with massive price cuts on the 2700 ($275) and 2700x ($325).
@jasswolf: Well, all the reasonable priced 8 cores. You can still find $400+ examples, and even a $750 on Amazon AU.
Good ol' Australian resellers - never knowingly on the price, ever.
I wonder how long before you can pick up a 12 core, 5Ghz, Ryzen 3700X for AU$230? At my rough calcs, that's about a 2x processing power upgrade over the 1700x
@sane: Considering that it'll likely have a sticker price of $500, over 18 months, if at all.
Look to buy in a bit under $400 IMO (eBay gift cards or Amazon Prime deals + cashback will help with this), or you might find yourself waiting 7 months after launch for a deal.
There might be a chance of deeper discounts if they plan to shrink the IO die in Zen 3 enough to increase from 2 chiplets per chip to 3, but that's wild speculation at this point.
Would you run this with a 2080? why or why not?
I would. The bottleneck isn't huge
You wouldn't hit CPU bottleneck at all. This is a 6C/12T processor at 3.9GHz. If games bottleneck on this then there's no hope for most other people.
Isn't the r5 typically able to hit
5ghz*4ghz?*If only r5 would hit 5ghz, lol
There isnt a bottleneck
buy 2600 system then get a 3700x or whatever when they release.
The single core speed is very good but not amazing. If you want max fps for competitive games, then go with a new gen intel i5 or i7. With a 2600 you will get 90% of the gaming performance of the top intels, but also great multi core performance at an amazing price.
what i5/i7 would you suggest?
8400 or 8700k if you wanna overclock. If money is an issue go with AMD because the motherboards are cheaper and you can upgrade to the next chip until 2020, but you probably wont be able to upgrade your intel.
@bboarder: Good old new motherboard for every new CPU
Intel :/
Can't decide on whether to get this or hold out for a good deal on the 2600x.
If OC with watercooling on a B450 the performance difference is fairly negligible right (I've heard <5% diff) so is there any other reason one would get the 2600x over this?
better stock cooler, adaptive voltages would save some electricity when idle.
If same price maybe why not otherwise wouldn't the cooler and board make the total cost a lot more?
Performance wise almost identical especially if you're overclocking on water. 2600X I believe is binned slightly higher so generally it'll do the same clocks at lower voltages.
Anyone still waiting for their techfast build with this cpu,? I ordered mine on the 16th of Nov and they still haven't sent it..
Rep said yesterday that alot of the RTX 2080 systems were being dispatched today so try to use the startrack tracking system to see if its been dispatched.
Also you can directly private message him through ozbargain so that he can check whether its dispatched or close to from the queue :)Yeah I've been refreshing my startrak tracking and reached out on ebay but they haven't responded to my latest message, I haven't messaged them on here yet, ill give that a go thanks :)
Bought this and Burnout Paradise Remastered was still in my cart from the deal a few weeks ago that expired. It was $15 again so I got it as well.
Patiently waiting for the 8700k to drop its price and ryzen bargain keeps popping up eye twitch
says $263 for me
Yup it's expired
Please put Ryzen 5 2600 in title
Can't change now plus it's expired but yeah, I'll keep that in mind next time
Looks like Amazon AU price matched Futu Online
